Here’s a fun one with a horse that tried to chop its hoof off. The horse was taken to the vet where he sedated the horse and removed all the dead hoof and tissue. The horse then had nerve blocks to the foot and was brought to me so I could put a shoe on. The bar shoe will help support the area and keep it protected with still enough room for the owner to clean the area and add medication.

Some work on a horse with underrun/ contracted heels. Brought the heels back as far as I could and floated them while loading the frog. The pour in will help provide even more frog support and hopefully over time push the heels back out to where they should be.

I will be making my way north tomorrow for equine dentistry school in Colorado. Not sure how signal will be where I am headed. Little work with some leather pads today. This young horse is coming along well. His feet are still a little narrow but should shape up just fine.

Update on the corrective shoeing from about 4 weeks ago. Little bit of growth. Taken down and shod the same way as before but took just a little more toe this time. Angles are much better then last time for sure. Almost exactly like the other foot.

Little corrective shoeing on an Arabian show horse. Horse came back from the trainer with crushed heels. Setting the shoe a little differently and pouring equi-pack into the shoe for support has greatly helped the angles on this horse and made her more comfortable.
