We are deeply saddened by the recent tragic loss of horses due to contaminated feed produced by yet another feed manufacturer. While this is an incredibly unfortunate set of events, we are excited about the attention it has drawn to our platform of using natural additives rather than medications in animal feed. At Tucker Milling, the safety of animals has always been our top priority.

Due to multiple incidents involving other manufacturers and to remove all doubt about our feed, we made the proactive decision to completely remove monensin from our facility over 5 years ago. We extended this to all ionophore drugs 2 years ago. We are having a pallet of these shavings delivered either Monday or Tuesday, and I talked them into an introductory price, so while this pallet lasts, they will be $12.49 each instead of the $13.99 originally posted. I spoke with a rep and they informed me that if you split your stall and do a 50/50 ratio, you can get, almost, the same effect. So, let's give them a try!!

Was having a discussion with a customer the other day, about insulin resistant horses, and what hay is best for them. I read several articles over the last week, and this one put it in a nut shell.

Question I have a 13-year-old Paso Fino mare that foundered two years ago. She is insulin-resistant. What hay is best for a horse like this? We usually purchase timothy grass and orchard grass hay for her, though we can also get timothy pellets. Does soaking hay or pellets help? Answer The best hay....
