The harmony is known as a symbiotic relationship, where both parties mutually depend on one another for a longer survival time.
The pistol shrimp builds and maintains the burrow throughout the day.🦐
The watchman goby is perched outside of the burrow to protect the pistol shrimp.
Despite their biological differences, they communicate to each other. When the pistol shrimp wants to come out of the burrow, it will place its antennas on the goby to make sure it’s safe outside of the home. On the flip side, when the goby goes into the burrow all of a sudden, the pistol shrimp knows it’s not safe out.
