We help animals in dire situations such as running up and down highways or living in sewer systems. We work in areas that are too dangerous for original TNR programs, such as busy roadways, in neglected parts of the city, or in buildings scheduled to be demolished. We go the extra mile that other people and groups won't. We have years of personal experience with house cats, stray cats, feral cats,

abused & abandoned dogs, small animals, farm animals, and even a lot of volunteer work with wild animals and exotic animals. We are dedicated to bettering the lives of any animal that is unwanted or homeless. Through rescue, rehab, adoption and spay and neuter we strive to lessen the number of animals that suffer from abuse and neglect.We will treat every and any animal as family from the moment it comes in to our care and forever more. Any animal once rescued by us is welcome back any time later in the future, no matter what.

Remember the newborn kittens from Oct. 24th? Well, here they are 3.5 weeks later! Still have weeks before adoption but wanted to give an update. They are still nursing 100% but beginning to show interest in wet food! Mama Whale is still doing a nice job with them ❤️

The 4 berry kittens turn 5 months old next week & would desperately like to find their forever homes for the holidays ahead 🤞🏼 The boys are Huckleberry & Blackberry. The girls are Blueberry & Raspberry. They have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated & rabies shots! We prefer they either go in pairs or that you already have a playmate. Each one still has lots of kitten energy! See specific names in captions. They will be moving to Petco in Columbia, MD on 11/22! Introducing Bishop. He is one of our newest rescues and a prime example of one of the many reasons we, at ASHA, do what we do.

He's 2.4 lbs tiny when he should be at least 3 lbs.
Unfortunately, the colony he came from doesn't have a caretaker, so him and his fellow felines are slowly starving.

Thankfully, our amazing volunteer Kim was able to trap him right before this awful cold snap, so he's been warm, vetted, and fed instead of out there suffering.

Three of his feline family members had already been trapped prior to him.
One was barely 1 lb, extremely emaciated, and did not make it. 😢
Two are already vetted, but feral, and in need of a safe farm to live in peace with caretakers that will ensure they have a warm shelter, dry beds, vetting as needed, clean water, and yummy food.

Bishop is currently enjoying a nap in his foster mommy's lap while sitting fireside, keeping warm and snuggled.
We wish more kitties could have a chance at this kind of peace.
All it takes is a foster to open up their hearts and help take in a kitty in need .

Momma G ain't afraid of no vacuums!

Our available, and quite wonderful, floofy orange girl isn't scared of anything this Halloween except not finding her forever home. She's done raising her kittens as a young mother and is looking forward to her next adventure. She's a treat.

Our fosters open their homes to cats of all backgrounds and situations. Routine cleaning and care keep the animals healthy and social until they are adopted. Still, this level of nonchalance about the evil vacuum is fairly rare.

Foster kitty, Doc, is hanging out today with the resident cat, Abby. They’re watching videos of squirrels and birds on YouTube together 😆 We know Abby is super cute snuggled up in her little cubby hole bed, but Doc (left) who is equally as cute, is the cat who is available for adoption 🥰

Adoptable cat, Doc, has been back in Maryland from his brief stent in Colorado for 10 months now… he was adopted and returned (he did nothing wrong, the adopter was severely allergic).

Since then, he has not received even one inquiry 😢 let alone an adoption application …

Adult cats get overlooked all the time for kittens - we get it - they are tiny, playful and adorable 🥰

Poor Doc can’t help that he was born out on the streets of Baltimore City and his kitten stage passed about 5 years ago. He’s a mature gentleman now and is past the stage of climbing curtains, making messes and kitten zoomies - making him a much easier cat to care for.
