Eva and her Diva Dogs proudly represent North Dakota racing the Jr Iditarod in 2024! Eva has dreamt of running the Jr. Iditarod since she was 5 years old.

In 2014, at the age of 8, she decided in order to fund her dream, she was going to make dog treats! She needs to raise $1,000 every year to be able to make it to Alaska and run the iconic jr version of "The Last Great Race" in the year 2022. She sells 4 different flavors: Peanut Butter, Chicken, Beef and Pumpkin. She also has a mixed bag too where you get all 4 flavors in one: called a Mutt Pack. They are $5 for 1 dozen of treats.

Got a little dusting more of snow over the weekend and switched up to running bigger teams with Eva home to help out!

Learning time:

And why - you may ask - are Hopie and Cocoa running solo?? Two reasons: the main one being that the other team is larger and needed the extra spots so we were lazy and didn’t want to switch out the gangline (rope that they are all connected to) and also it’s good to have the dogs run solo from time to time to get used to the feeling of running without a buddy incase you ever need to drop a dog in a race. They build independent confidence. Now obviously Hopie and Cocoa are confident enough (Cocoa exudes confidence and Hopie runs solo a lot because she’s a scrapper with her sisters 🙈) so this was more - we didn’t want to switch gangline!

Throwback Thursday!

It’s baby Knik!

He always had his tongue out as a munchkin. He is pretty happy with a lollying tongue these days too! We called him our “loner” as he liked to do his own thing and always ate after everyone else was done. He doesn’t wait these days but is one of our best eaters!

Before all the toe drama, we did have a great boy run! This is the second run with Forest and Mir in lead and Forest is doing a great job of teaching his son how to run lead.

Knik is running team with Honor - one of his buds. Honor doesn’t get along with many boys but he likes Knik’s easy going attitude. Also a win for Knik in this video is that he’s running team! Knik is also in the learning stage - his is learning to have other dogs behind him. He doesn’t like it and prefers to run wheel. He did great here.

Our man Knik was such a good boy at the vet!

Thankfully no broken toe! He did manage to pull his toenail nearly completely off but the joint is good. 🫣😬

He was a trooper and while he will be out for a bit while his toenail heals, he is in good spirits!

Well I had intended to spend the week talking about Mir but his brother had other plans…

On a morning run, Knik had a mishap and appears to have broken his toe. Handler Dad and Knik are en route to the vet as I type.

So now would be the absolute best time (hint my sarcasm) to talk about Knik needing sponsors! He doesn’t have any! 😱 and we all know Sponsors help support him in his race career as well as when little training snafus happen like today.

JOPLIN, Mo. - The University of Minnesota Crookston women's cross country team finished 25th of 31 teams at the NCAA Central Region Championships at the Tom Rutledge Course in Joplin, Mo. Minnesota Crookston had their best-ever finish at the Central Region Championships.

Alright Diva Fans - our Eva is running her last (hooman) race of the season today! She’s at the NCAA DII Regional Championships in Joplin, MO!

Wish her luck! It’s the first race for her to not have either mama katt nor handler dad cheering her on. So we are sending our prayers for a great race!

The Divas will be out running today too - at some point - another day in the 50s (😰). It’s definitely a slow start to the season for them but the good news is that everyone - all 22! - are looking great!

Let’s go Eva!!!!

This was two firsts:

1) Father Son leaders! Mir and Forest

2) All 8 of our boys running together! We are a predominantly female kennel and we have never had the guts to run all the boys together. Guts because the Inspire boys are scrappers but the Stowaways aren’t so we gave it a whirl!

Nice short run and if you recognize a voice - Eva was home to run this one with her boys! 💗🥰
