Our patient came to the hospital for chronic nasal discharge so we proceeded to take radiographs of the skull and found a fluid line and a damaged tooth root! Radiographs showed a significant fluid line present in the sinuses so we opted to remove the tooth and flush the sinuses. Working as a team we were able to successfully remove that damaged tooth and flush those sinuses clean.
Sinusitis is a common issue associated secondarily to tooth root abscesses or tumors or cysts associated with the sinus cavity. If you notice your horse developing a one sided snotty nose, we always recommend an appointment with your veterinarian to help diagnose the issue. Our office is always happy to help and work towards a plan to get you and your companion back to health!
