This gentle quarter horse bounced between owners, then his last home just stopped feeding him. Yes, just stopped. Thanks to several amazing neighbors, he was taken in and rescue efforts began. Last month, these two magnificent giants were pulled from a kill pen. Used as carriage horses their entire lives, Grace and Prestige were aging, and ended up at a place no animal should ever be. Thanks to an angel donor, and two additional supporters, we were able to get them to Healing Hearts in a safe, timely manner. They are thriving, and living life to the fullest. Meet our newest little man, Tucker! This well mannered, 20 year old mini gelding came to Healing Hearts very loved, and very well taken care of. His owners were saddened to rehome him, but it was financially essential. Tucker is an 11 hand Shetland gelding who leads, ponies and trailers beautifully. He is also very good for the farrier. Tucker does have a permanent tracheotomy that requires trimming of the hair when it gets long and cleaning around the edges with a rag every few days. Other than that, this handsome boy is very low maintenance. He’s even great for clippers and getting hair cuts. He is up to date on vaccines, teeth and recently had a negative coggins. Welcome beautiful Adonis! Life can throw a curve ball in the best intended plans. With much love and care, Adonis was brought back to Healing Hearts due to some underlying medical issues that we will continue to investigate and care for. This was a very bittersweet day for his family, but they know he will be safe and loved at the Rescue. This gorgeous 8 year old Appendix was rescued 2 years ago from the Bowie killpen. He is extremely gentle and kind, and will most likely remain a companion only horse for the rest of his life. More to come in the next few days after his vet check.
