Sorry weā€™ve been quiet lately!

Weā€™re in our final week of walks and focusing on this transition. I cannot thank our SOR community enough for your support over the years. Iā€™m excited to take the experiences Iā€™ve had with you and your dogs into this next phase of business. We are doing a rebrand and will be back soon with a new look and info on our services!

Meet Maisy! This sweet girl stole our hearts and quickly became a fan favorite around here. She loves her walks (as long as it's not raining) and even more so, loves to play, hunt for treats, and get some good belly rubs!

Recall Part 3

Now that your dog is coming to you consistently, we can add our Come command!

Start using it as your dog is coming to you, mark, reward, and release them. Before you know it, youā€™ll be ready to start saying Come as your command!

Recall Tip #2

Use your dogā€™s name as the attention getter!

You can use food or a toy to pattern name=yummy food or play. The great thing about focusing on this step is that youā€™re shaping recall, making the next step easy!

Sprinkle this exercise into your normal daily activity.

If this step is hard, try hand feeding your dog their meals at least once/day. Start with no expectations, and then build up to rewarding for voluntary engagement before adding their name into to exercise.

How you live daily life with your dog makes all the difference in your training. This isnā€™t just a tip for recall.

Focus on quality time together (vs quantity). Be present when youā€™re with your dog. Do things you love together. Get outside, play, and have fun! Limit your attention indoors to purpose moments. Give your dog time alone to decompress and relax.

Following this protocol helps you become more valuable to your dog because your time and attention is scarce. When your dog does interact with you, itā€™s through fulfilling, fun activities outdoors and calm intimate moments indoors.

Comment with questions below! Weā€™d love to dig more into our relationship protocol in future videos!

Meet Lexy!!

Lexy is the newest member of our team, helping out in the field with our daily walks and hike + train! Lexy comes to us with lots of experience, including owning her own training businessšŸ¤©

Read more about Lexy from her bio below:

ā€œI got into dogs at a very young age. My house was practically a zoo growing up, I was surrounded by many furry friends, specifically dogs. I always knew I had to help animals and their owners in whatever capacity I could. At 15 I started working for my familyā€™s dog grooming business, that quickly expanded to dog boarding, and eventually I parted ways to join other areas of the dog care industry, which led me to taking a dog training mentorship. With 8+ years in this industry, Iā€™m dedicated to caring for your beloved four legged friends. When Iā€™m not working with my own dog, or your dogs, Iā€™m at home with friends/family, watching movies, playing games and taking small road trips. Iā€™m beyond thrilled to be apart of the Sigh Of Relief team, and I cannot wait to learn and grow with this company.ā€

Not ready to spend money on raw food but want to start making improvements to your dogā€™s diet? Start by looking at carb percentages!

Carbs arenā€™t as important for dogs (or cats!) as they are for humans. Higher carb diets feed inflammation, which is the root to so many health issues in both our pets and us.

Use this formula to calculate how many carbs are in your dogā€™s food, and compare to other brands you may be interested in switching to! Finding kibble with a carb percentage under 30% is a great first step to improving your dogā€™s health!

Formula:
Protein + Fat + Fiber + Moisture + Ash (6%) = X
100 - X = Carb %
