Joe has the little dog at the Vet, she just had a seizure! KiM is at the ranch with Mike and Dr. Moore with Calderon. I’m in Phoenix with my special needs grand dog magic.
It must be a holiday weekend we got the trifecta…!?!?
Prayers needed… its more than just a abscess, it’s fractures and suspensory ligaments. He’s just a mess in the back end.!! From years of a use in the show ring, not intentional, per se, just a product of an old horse with an athletic career. RIP -Calderon…
This is why the need for emergency funds… winter is coming and these horses are older. We can not afford heroics… and even just to try something for comfort is not an option. We have less than $1,000 and I think not even $500 in the bank at last look.
Calderon is older, has had issues with hairline fractures In His hind coffin bones, for his USET life as a 3-day event horse, and Paralympic Dressage history. He’s just here to retire the best he can…. This maybe his last day. Vet coming at 3 pm, she thinks Abscess from video, but I think there is more going on here, as well as Cushings in his old age, he’s getting thicker curly hair this year. This visit will undoubtedly take us beyond our funds.

The annual pheasant murdering has begun yesterday DNR was out here dumping off all kinds of pheasants for these guys to come kill today and they are captive bread pheasants so they like humans…. Most of these people won’t even eat the birds, they either leave them behind or toss them in the dumpsters on their way out the road. DNR and the local police department has driven through a few times, so at least the hunters are staying off property for the most part. I feel bad for the birds, if it was hunting, It would be one thing. This is just killing birds. 😢
A little grass has grown, so the kids get to be on the back 40 for just a few days. ;)

Sadly we will be saying goodbye to Ayla, soon. She did ok on the Librela for 2 months… but she’s bone on bone, miserable that she can’t run and play, she barely gets up to go to the bathroom. She will go 10 feet and lay down, staying close to her water bowl or in the shop in the AC. No life for a 4 year old pup. 😞 I reached out and sent X-rays and videos to several vets many times, to have none get back to me to even talk about her legs, before even attempting to travel to them… some hours away. All wanted money first and come to them… sad to say how things are getting. I was willing to pay a phone consult fee still nothing. Sad!
