Important Update Regarding Pedro

We want to take a moment to address the ongoing situation with Pedro, and we understand the frustration and concern many of you have shared. We know there have been a lot of rumors circulating, and we feel it’s important to set the record straight.

On February 7th, Pedro came to us seeking help due to diarrhea. As part of our standard process, our technician took him outside to collect a stool sample. Unfortunately, that’s when things went wrong. While outside, Pedro managed to slip away, still wearing his harness and the slip lead our technician was using.

Here’s the technician’s account of what happened:
"Pedro was taken out to potty at 12:50 PM behind the clinic. The leash slipped from my hands, and he started running towards the water tower. I called his name and ran after him as he stopped at the fence of the water tower. When I got closer, he took off again, running towards the houses on the next street. He stopped in the middle of the street, and when I tried to catch him, he ran again toward the bushes at the next street. I lost sight of him but got closer to the bushes. At 12:58 PM, I called the office to let them know where I was and sent for more help, as Pedro was getting farther away. He came out of the bushes when he heard me, but continued running into another bush. I lost sight of him again and called for additional help. Around 1:05 PM, more people arrived to help search. We saw something run between the fences of the houses, and we cornered it, but it turned out to be a bunny. At that point, we lost Pedro. We kept searching the area, walking and driving through the streets, but we didn’t find him. We returned to the office to wait for the owner to arrive. When the owner came, I went out with her, explained how much Pedro had run, and began calling for him in the area."

Dr. Stevenson explored all possible ways to help get Pedro back. She suggested the owner put out pieces of clothing in the area to attract Pedro and recommended bringing one of his buddies to help guide him back.

Our staff, along with their friends and families, continued searching for Pedro that Saturday. We also reached out to a search-and-rescue team, but without a fresh scent, they weren’t able to assist. Our technician stayed in contact with the owner over the weekend.

Since then, we've put up flyers and spread the word as widely as possible, but unfortunately, we have not had any further leads on Pedro’s whereabouts.

We know many of you are upset, and we share that frustration. This situation should never have happened, and we deeply regret that it did.

We truly appreciate the support and patience from those who have been understanding during this time. We are grateful for any tips or information that could help us bring Pedro back home safely.

Still No Updates on Pedro ☹️

It’s been odd that we haven’t heard much about him lately. We know many of you are eager to help, but the Retrievers have asked that we pause the search efforts for now. They’ve requested that the public just keep an eye out for him without actively searching, to avoid adding any more stress or fear to Pedro.

We’ll continue posting and hanging flyers as we wait for more news. Your support means the world to us, and we appreciate everyone who’s been helping. Please keep your eyes peeled, and let’s stay hopeful. 🙏💛

Update on Pedro.

There was a report of a sighting last night at 10:45pm! 🙏

We were contacted by The Retrievers that the owner has been working with. They said it's better not to have people out actively looking for him because everyone, including Mom, could be scary to him at this point. They said to just keep our eyes peeled for any sign of him.

I know there are concerns about us not doing enough to find Pedro, but I want to reassure you all that we are actively working to bring him home. Over the weekend, our staff, their families, and clients were out searching for him. Our technician was with the owner on Friday night and started again on Saturday morning with her. Yesterday, we took 50 flyers out to surrounding neighborhoods to spread the word.

We're doing everything we can to find Pedro and bring him back safely.

We are heartbroken over this, and our hearts are with the owner during this incredibly tough time. Thank you to everyone who's been helping and keeping an eye out. Let's stay hopeful!
