Ethan and I finished with a good day yesterday. Whoever said snow will make the pheasant hunting great is crazy. I was exhausted from walking in that stuff.

Great season however. Got out 31 days, 3 states and four species harvested. Added wild chukars which puts me at 11 towards the NA upland slam.

Special shout outs to all my hunting buddies ( Lance Vanderloo, Kevin Dallenbach, Chad Homewood, Shane Pitkin, Jordan Proctor, Ethan Schmitz and John Foltz). Heck of a year gentleman😁

Great trip to Wyoming and South Dakota with Ethan and Jordan. Harvested chukar, Hungarian Partridge, greater prairie chickens and pheasants. Good company and wonderful dog work.

Etta and Zelda just weaned their babies 3 weeks ago and got their first wild chukar today. A first for me too on wild ones. Bird number 10 in my quest for the North American 18. 18000 steps and 68 stories climbed. Awesome day in Wyoming

It’s a sad day here at NorthFork. Raven has left us another empty collar on the wall. That’s to be expected when you have as many dogs as we do but losing the best single hunting dog of a lifetime is tremendous. Michele and I are deeply saddened. As the Irish suggest however, we should focus on all of the memories and stories. This dog gave us a lifetime of both and her genes are floating around in dozens and dozens of fine bird dogs. Whether it was a great point, a 100 yard honor, a 10 minute blood track, a porky fight all the way to a 7 foot dig to make a retrieve, there was nothing she couldn’t do. We will miss her terribly. To those who gunned over her, tip a glass to Raven tonight.

Zelda and Ike’s babies arrived this week. Eight good healthy ones.

Zelda (solid liver) is due to whelp about 18 September. She's bred to Ike (black n white). In 5 generations there are the following:
19 KS...highest title in Germany
1 CH...AKC confirmation champ
9 FC...field champion
6 NFC...National field champ
1 VC...NAVHDA versatile champ
1 NA1...NAVHDA Natural Ability

All four colors could exist in this litter. Taking deposits now. Contact me for a copy of the 5 generation pedigree and more information on both sire and dam.

So proud of Ethan Schmitz and his Pudelpointer Stella for scoring a perfect 112 today in their first NAVHDA test. They have been coming to Northfork to train the last several months and was rewarded with a NA prize 1 today. Congratulations! A great accomplishment for a first time handler and his pup.

The baby Schnauzers are now 3 weeks old. Ears, tails and dew claws are done. They are now starting to eat solid food. Salt and pepper females or the white male are still available.
