Here's what his new mom Aubrie has to say about this lucky pup: "...he has been absolutely wonderful; he is the perfect combo of an adventurous little boy while still being an absolute sweetheart and cuddle bug. He is also a big hit at my office! We have people from other businesses coming by daily just to say good morning to Gravy!"

It’s incredible to think that Maggie Sue spent 90-days in a shelter with no prospects on the horizon. Her time was up when we received the call. How could we turn our backs on this sweet, social girl? Maggie arrived at AHDRNC and immediately spread her joy. Within days, Jeremy saw her online and knew she was the furry girl for him. Her infectious smile and sunny disposition was just what the doctor ordered; his perfect sidekick while recovering from surgery and beyond. They rescued one another and what a gift for us to play a small part in their journey. Sometimes all it takes is the right person seeing the right dog at the right time. ❤️

Can you believe this little girl was left outside in a small kennel during the hurricane? Thankfully, a good samaritan convinced the family to surrender her and not only scooped her to safety shortly after the storm, but she also immediately took little Tinker to the vet for a health check and vaccinations. Thanks to a wonderful Beagle loving foster family, Tinker learned the ropes of living indoors and was exposed to all sorts of people, animals and activities; they were invaluable in readying her for adoption. Her new family drove all the way from the Outer Banks to Cedar Mountain to have the opportunity to adopt this little cutie. Tinker now lives steps from the beach and will never be left out to fend for herself again. As you can see from her photos, Tinker has definitely embraced snuggle time! Thanks to countless people with huge hearts 💞who made Tinker's rescue possible and has shown her the true meaning of love.

Cheddar, now named "Sweet Tea" was the first of our Thanksgiving pups to be adopted. After all, who could resist her bright, beautiful eyes? She’s one of the lucky ones. Neighbors saw Cheddar’s mother giving birth while tied up outside. We were able to help keep the babies with their momma for 6-weeks thanks to this incredible neighbor while de-worming and vaccinating them on schedule. If Cheddar’s litter had been surrendered to a shelter, it’s likely hard choices would have been made to create room for the pups. Our gratitude to caring individuals and those working in shelters day in and day out knows no bounds. Cheddar Sweet Tea is lovin’ her new pet parents, with all the TLC she needs to live a happy, healthy life while her momma is now spayed and has shelter from the elements.

After losing their home, all belongings and most importantly, their beloved dog in a house fire 🔥, this family deserved some light in their lives. Mr. Potato Head is just what they needed to bring joy to the season and start their new year off right. Here’s to a fresh start in 2025. It was AH’s pleasure to share the gift of unconditional love ❤️ with you.

Ready for a feel-good story? It's about the power of love, kindness and healing with the help of a pack and some amazing fosters. Here's how it goes...

10/17/24 - Brand new AH fosters Anna & Ed pick up shut down Camille (believed to be a Collie mix but recent DNA testing revealed she's a Great Pyrenees/ Aussie mix) from Pickens County SC Animal Shelter. Freedom ride!
10/18/24 - Camille is too frightened to drink or urinate; stays in enclave on cold, hard floor rather than using dog bed or crate. Definitely looks to Sophie, the senior dog for comfort and encouragement.
10/21/24 - Accepted belly rubs!
10/22/24 - Ventured into living room on leash, wasn't shaking and laid her head on Anna's leg.
10/25/24 - Belly up! Still not getting up on her own to go outdoors. Thank goodness for harnesses.
10/28/24 - Up on her own and waiting by door!
10/31/24 - Car ride, long hike, went in water and enjoyed sniffing. Great day!
11/2/24 - Has become the midnight bandit, sneaking around the house while everyone is asleep, moving empty bags of dog food, bones, shoes (but not chewing on them).
11/3/24 - Urinated twice in one day! (Dogs have a hard time urinating if they feel insecure). Rested with entire family in living room with no leash attached!
11/10/24 - New dog! Walking and following Anna on her own around the house.
11/12/24 - Slept in a dog bed rather than the hard tile floor for the very first time.
11/17/24 - Adoption Day! No way Anna & Ed are going to be able to give up this girl.
12/19/24 - Road trip to Maryland to visit family. Camille, now named Rosie did great!
12/29/24 - Sleeping by Anna & Ed's bed every night, asking to go outside, urinating, eating and drinking normally, licking Nina, clown of pack's face, walking up to Ed for snuggles and comes running when she hears the Furbo make its squeaking sound to dispense treats. It took a minute and a lot of dedication, but Rosie finally seems happy, her eyes are brighter, and she offers lots of wiggles. Oh, and the midnight bandit did steal a few sticks of butter when no one was watching but ate only one, being the conscientious princess she is.

Do you remember Echo’s story? This sweet, shut down boy arrived at Almost Home Dog Rescue NC after his caregiver was so ill she forgot to feed herself and her pets. On top of his entire world being rocked, he had contracted the awful dog flu going around last year. Under the care of his loving foster Echo thrived and we found a fantastic home for him. Sadly, a year later his new mom was diagnosed with an illness too debilitating to take care of Echo. The 3rd time is the charm, sweet boy. Just look at you loving life with your new pet parents today!

What??? Little Miss Turkey's potential adopters have fallen through, and this adorable pup is still looking for her forever home! As of today, Turkey is a 12-week old smart as a whip little Bulldog/ Husky mix beauty with one blue eye and one green. She's crate trained and rocking her basic training. Located in Cedar Mountain, NC, Turkey is a social little girl who loves all people, other dogs and does well with cats. She's a gem!

Not to be outdone, Tala (formerly Biscuit) wants you to know that although she told Santa she could always use more toys, what she really wanted for Christmas is a family to adore her and that wish has already been granted!
