Austin Greyhound Adoption

Austin Greyhound Adoption AGA is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding loving homes for retired greyhounds.

AGA's primary goal is to find responsible loving homes for pure-bred greyhounds after life on the racetrack and to acquaint the public with the desirability and availability of greyhounds as pets. AGA is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Our volunteers work very hard to bring you the best possible hound

for adoption. Small dog and cat testing are done so that a better placement may be achieved. Our hounds are taken to AGA's veterinarian immediately upon arrival to be spayed/neutered, heart worm tested, teeth cleaned, vaccinations, nails trimmed & bathed.

🌈 The AGA Family is sad to share that Twitch (KB's Twitch, 1/5/2014) crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Jan 4th, one day shy of his 10th birthday, after a courageous battle with osteo diagnosed last September. Twitch was the beloved hound of George and the late Barbara Winterble and George's sister Cindy Codeghini. Cindy had been helping care for Twitch writes "He was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in his hind left leg. He was a great boy who gave us so much joy and fought this until the end. We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for giving us this wonderful boy. Life without him will not be the same." Our thoughts are with Twitch's family during this sad time. 🐾

The Austin greyhound community has lost a greyt in the hound adoption world. Sally Rau McIntosh was an advocate and mentor to so many in the greyhound adoption community. 100's of central Texas greyhounds found their loving homes with Sally's love and support. She will truly be missed. 🐾🌈

🌈 The AGA Family is sad to share the loss of two beautiful hounds in one adoptive family. Grace (CTW Flo's Cafe, 3/3/2010) crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 10/21/2024 and Piper (CTW Pipe Down, 11/9/2012) crossed over on 11/4/2024. Grace and Piper were the beloved hounds of Pam & Paul McQuesten.
Pam writes "Grace Oct 21, 2024. Today, we said a loving goodbye to Grace Slick as she took her trip over the Rainbow Bridge. After beginning her 14.5 years(!) with the odd racing name of Flo's Cafe, the renamed Grace came into my life in March 2014 through the great work of Austin Greyhound Adoption.
She was my sweetheart of a velco greyhound and never failed to herd me into the bedroom each night, refusing to settle until I was safe and sound in the same room and ready for sleep. Piper (her greyhound "brother") and I will miss her deeply. May she run free forever."
"Piper Nov 4, 2024. Two weeks ago, we said goodbye to Grace. Today, Piper joined her across the Rainbow Bridge. His fav position was sticking his head under my arm and snuggling. He was the most loving dog I have ever known. They brought so much joy into our lives every day. This has been a rough two weeks."
Our thoughts are with the McQuesten family during this sad time. 🐾
