Hey everyone!

We have been kind of MIA lately on social media, summer has been so busy! We are still accepting new pups for both boarding and daycare, but with school starting soon we wanted to touch base with you all about a few things ☺️

With two kiddos in sports and activities we are home a good portion of the time, but we do have obligations that we must be on time for and my fiancé regularly has meetings for work that cannot be altered or interrupted.

With that being said we are implementing a few guidelines due to several recent situations to streamline drop offs and pick ups while ensuring we are able to give our all to your pets and our family.

Drop offs and pick ups are now scheduled in 30 minute windows. If you’re unable to make the window we’ve discussed please contact me as soon as you can and we can figure out an alternate time.

Being that everyone is SO excited when someone arrives (we love all our clients being so excited to come to us and love our dogs having a blast with their friends), we ask that you don’t show up unannounced or prior to the agreed upon pick up time unless we’ve spoken about it. This allows us to get the other dogs outside to allow for a smooth pickup/drop off and eliminate unnecessary excitement for the other dogs.

We are available most easily through text, but please allow for at least 2 hours for a response as we may be working, at a sporting event/concert for our kids, etc.

Please join us in helping Sweet Shae who is under the care of Critter Crusaders of Cedar Rapids.

She’s suffering from a fungal skin disease and requires hyperbaric treatments that she will need to travel to Gainesville, FL to receive. She is starting her journey this coming Sunday and will arrive in time for her appointment Tuesday morning.

We have donated a few daycare days to be included in the Doggie Goodies basket along with all the other amazing baskets that were sponsored for this event.

While we know Critter Crusaders will provide her the best care available no matter the cost, the financial burden of this treatment is heavy and they need our help.

We feel exceptionally blessed to be a part of this fundraiser and can’t wait to see how our community shows up for this sweet girl and such an amazing organization.

The online auction is NOW LIVE and will conclude on March 16th at 8:15pm. Cash donations will also be accepted to Dr. Schwenn’s Venmo from Schwenn Family Chiropractic as their office is hosting this fundraiser, the Venmo will be posted in the comments. Please add the note “For Shae” when sending a cash payment.

Schwenn Family Chiropractic will present the earnings to Critter Crusaders following the conclusion of the event.

We’ve met so many wonderful people and pups during this adventure. It’s incredible how much can change in just a year.

I’m not sure we’ll ever be able to convey how grateful we are for this opportunity so we’ll keep it short and sweet.

We had a few friends with us for Christmas Eve, everyone was so good and soaked up all the attention from our family. Everyone got a special Christmas treat and is all snuggled in for the night. Thanks to all of our boards who’s families allowed them to spend Christmas with us. Your support for our small business means the world. Merry Christmas everyone! ❤️🎄🐾

I can’t believe we haven’t posted an update since August! The tail end of the year totally got away from us! We had lots of new friends and a bunch of our veterans come to stay with us since August!

I started a new part time job that hopefully means more time at home with all of our fur friends! The girls headed back to school and the kids get a kick out of seeing which pups are coming with to pick up the girls.

Quincifer is still coming at least once a week to hang out with his friends, Pluto the beagle was dropped off yesterday for his THREE WEEK stay while his momma heads home to visit family for Christmas. We had Harlow and Luna while their mom and dad got MARRIED! Too exciting! Our vets Rogue & Chase came to visit, Hank & Maggie came for a short sleepover, our best girl Cookie got to come back for a short weekend, Red the Shepherd stayed with us while his mom went to her son’s wedding and was the snuggliest boy, Chloe & Cheyenne came to stay again, Ralphie the bulldog was a new board and he was an absolute blast, Leo & Oakley came for several days of daycare while their family was moving, Georgey Pordgey came for a short trip, Jack & Luna spent Thanksgiving with us, our sweet boys Jax & Luka have been back a few times since the last update as well!

So far Pluto is the only pup celebrating Christmas with us! If you need boarding or daycare for any of your fur friends during the holiday we’d love to have them! We might be tooting our own horn, but we think they’d have an absolute blast!

Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far and allowed me the opportunity to accept a Part Time position instead of working full time. The support of all of our family, friends, and clients is beyond anything I ever could’ve imagined. ❤️

To celebrate the holidays and to thank you for all your support I wanted to run a holiday special. Book at least 3 days of boarding and get an extra day on us! Just mention the holiday deal when booking and we can get you on the books!

🐾🎉TWENTY TWO🎉🐾

That’s a new record of pups who came to spend time with us last month. We chewed some bones, got some pup cups, went to some local outdoor events, played tons of bitey face & tug of war: we really just had a blast. We loved seeing all of our new buddies and our veterans. Lots of return pups this past month, we love to see it!

Thank you so much for your continued support and love, we can’t believe how many new fur friends we’ve met and will continue to meet through doing this.

Hi friends! 🐾

Another busy month! We had a few of our veterans this last 5 ish weeks and made a ton of new friends!

Nanuk, our daycare husky moved to every other week since his momma is off this summer so we don’t see him quite as much but he’s happy as ever to make his biweekly appearances!

Our boy Chewy came by a few times to hang out and make sure our laps stayed nice and warm, everyone in the house gets excited when we know Chewy is coming for daycare!

We met Ollie & Roscoe for their first time, they had the time of their lives playing keep away and bitey face (I mean really, what’s not to love?), they spent their days pulling every toy out of the baskets to make sure they made the right choice. They had a great visit and will hopefully be back next month! 🤞🏻

Our buddy Navy joined the daycare crew, he’s the perfect mixture between snuggly and wiley, he could run for hours and still not be tired, he’s also a really great snuggle buddy. He’s a drop in daycare and gets along with everyone, we love seeing him every so often!

George was a longer term board while his family took a vacation, he was with us for almost 2 weeks and was the perfect little spitfire. He may be small but he thinks he’s 10ft tall and bulletproof 😂 he was so much fun and will be back again the end of this month for another stay which is awesome!

Snoop Dogg & Roxy the Rottie came to hangout for a few days, Roxy was the enforcer and made sure no one was getting picked on, she also enjoyed being a lap dog with all of us and just snuggling. Snoop was happy to be involved with anyone. Snuggling, chasing, or playing bitey face; he was game for it all. Snoop was recently rescued and struggled in the shelter but has adapted so well to a loving home, he’s so sweet and has settled in with us as well. Roxy comes back for another stay tomorrow and Snoop will come for his 3rd stay later this week!

Jax came back again and while we might be a bit biased, he’s one of our best buds. Playing tug, chasing Angus, and using the springs he has in his butt rank right up there with his favorite boarding activities. He recently gained a little brother as well and we can’t wait to have them both down the road!

Boost & Gemma were another pair that came for a little vacation and we cannot say enough good things about them. Gemma was the sweetest girl, she loved rolling in the grass, smelling all the smells, and making sure we didn’t go anywhere alone. She ran with the pack a few times but preferred more one on one play with Angus, Boost, or her boyfriend Snoop. Boost was a blast and a great snuggler. He definitely tired Angus and the other pups out with all the running. He was a great garden helper and make sure to stick right near me so the plants wouldn’t get me 😉 They had an extra little treat and got to come in for some pup ice cream after running around.

We also had Moose & Mika who were great guests. Mika is a bit older and takes a bit to warm up to everyone, but once she does she is a great shadow and loves to be around people. Moose is another guy that’s just happy to be involved. He & Angus we’re a great pair because they had really similar energy levels. Moose and Mika were also 10/10 snugglers!

Quincy also joined the daycare crew, he is such a spunky little guy with the longest eyelashes we’ve ever seen. He is such a doll, he took a few visits to really settle in and feel comfortable but now he runs right in and gets to playing. If I don’t get to the door quick enough, he starts barking at me to let him in.😂 he is so well behaved that he got to go on a little adventure to Grandma & Grandpa’s house and run free to play with Hank & Maggie.

Miss Maggie Mae is finishing up her almost 3 week visit while her mom & dad are on vacation, she is so funny and has loved just about everyone so far. She has endless amounts of energy and likes to sit and bark at her friends if they don’t play with her fast enough.

Lastly we had Addie & Winie, two cockapoo sisters who were referred by Cheyenne & Chloe’s mom. They had so much fun on their little trip and were on their best behavior. Addie was a big snuggler and Winie was all about play! She’s only 7 months old but a very good girl. She was all about roughhousing with the bigger pups and had the time of her life.

That makes our total for the last 5 weeks or so to SEVENTEEN. We had seventeen buddies stay with us and we couldn’t be more thrilled. We are so thankful and excited about how quickly our fur family has grown and can’t see where this journey takes us next. As usual we have another busy month coming up and we can’t wait to see what pals we get to hang out with next! ❤️🐾

Wanted to throw these up as well! We don’t have many reviews here since a majority of our boards come from Rover. Consistent 5 stars across the board for daycare & boarding. We offer the flexibility for drop offs and pickup that normal boarding facilities aren’t able to offer and a level of personalized care that isn’t able to be offered by most boarding facilities due to staffing and the amount of dogs per handler.

We have a huge fenced backyard, a gravity waterer, and more toys and bones than most dogs have seen in their lives 🤣 Many of our customers are repeat customers which we love to see! We work from home and love spending time at home so they’re with someone 99% of the time they spend here. The kids love running outside with them and playing. We have plenty of dogs beds but they’re welcome on any furniture or lap they’d like.

We’d love to have your fur baby spend time with us and we’re sure they’ll have a blast! 🐾

Since our last update we’ve had another busy month! A totally of SIXTEEN pups came and spent time with us just within a few weeks.

Jax came for another overnight with us, and we were so happy to have him back. He is such a well trained, well behaved pup and we love having him stay with us. He still bounces in front of the TV, loves playing ball, and sprinting around the backyard with whoever will chase him.

Cookie came to stay for her first time (she’s currently here for her second!) and was lovingly dubbed Oreo & Stompy since she stops her feet when she’s happy. She’s just a sweet little thing that loves being your shadow and hanging out in the backyard.

Duke was surprisingly our first pibble and he was a dream. The snuggliest, sweetest little land seal you’ve ever met. He was just happy to be involved and loved being your shadow or snoozing on the couch relaxing.

Odin was our second husky after our daycare boy Nanuk. He was a wild child and could play for hours before he finally got tired out and needed a nap. He was a little anxious to be away from his dad but was super sweet once he settled down a bit.

Our buddy Chewy came back for another daycare day, he is still the most polite houseguest and is just happy to snooze around by people and snuggle. He was raised with cats so he doesn’t run around and play much but he sure is a good lap warmer.

Our resident daycare boy Nanuk came for his normal Thursdays, he had fun playing with all the pups that came through this last month, we missed him so much while we were on vacation but he’s back this week and it’s like he never left!

Our veterans Hank & Maggie came for a week while Mom & Dad headed down to Tennessee for vacation. They’re always so well behaved and really have our routine down so they always settle in quickly. They’re always so much fun to have stay with us.

Our best friend’s mom also dropped Tigress off. She was familiar with me before so she had no trouble settling in as long as she was getting lovings. Moi loved that he could pet her without bending over and she kept the pups in line like she does with the daycare kids back home. She was an angel as usual and we’ll never say no to her spending time with us!

Our sweet chicken nugget Chloe came back with her sister Cheyenne and we were so happy to see them back! Cheyenne snuggled into her blankets and Chloe was happy to hang out on the couch with her sister or Angus.

After Chloe & Cheyenne left I headed down to Tennessee to join Mom & Dad for vacation for a week. Hank, Maggie & Angus stayed home with Moi and the girls and had a fun week of their own. We missed them terribly but had such a good time on vacation and a much needed break.

When we got back we got Bastion & Badger who are my cousins’ dogs. They had an absolute blast sprinting around the backyard and playing bitey face. They were both very good and had no trouble settling in. Badger has spent time with us before but this was Bastion’s first time and he took the craziness all in stride, he almost didn’t want to go home when his dad came to get him 🤣

Blanche is the sweet girl of a coworker, her normal boarder was booked so I was so thankful she thought of us. She is such a snuggly goober. Her & Bastion were attached at the hip. They ate together, played together, and napped together. She took her place snuggled right up to me at night and hardly moved. She was also super attached to Sofie while she was here and slept all tangled up on the couch with her (I think she was missing her girl). She was an absolute peach and we would have her back in a heartbeat.

Lastly we have Clementine & Rosemary, two older gals who just like to follow you around and nap most of the day. They take their medicine so well and Clem takes her spot right above your head at night and sleeps like a rock. They will be here for another few days and have just been the sweetest lil old ladies.

We have another busy month coming up, my aunts are in town and have so graciously donated their time to help us get some landscaping done. We’ve got a bunch of space cleared in the back to make the yard even bigger and cleared out for zoomies and sunbathing. All the dogs have been so patient while we’re working in the backyard and seem to really like all the new space.

Once again THANK YOU, this has been a dream come true to be able to hang out with dogs and bring in extra income at the same time. It’s been a crazy ride but we wouldn’t have it any other way. ❤️ The girls are the best helpers and the dogs get so much interaction and play time with them when we’re working, I’m starting to think I’m going to have to put them on my payroll 🤣

We are so thrilled to see all of our repeat pups and are unbelievably thankful that their parents trust us enough to leave them with us when they leave home and that the pups are comfortable enough to just run in the house when they get here to play without any anxiety or second thoughts.

We love our little fur family and can’t see where this ride continues to take us ❤️🐾

Our Sadie Bug & her momma headed home to Louisiana this last week. We are so bummed she won’t be with us during the week anymore but are so happy they could go home back to their family ❤️ this little spitfire was such a highlight of our week and we hope they come back and visit! 🐾

We have been so busy lately we haven’t had a chance to show off our recent boards & daycare friends. No better time for a photo dump from the last month!

We had Jax who was a super smart, high energy Aussie. He stayed for about close to a week and was very polite & well behaved. He & Angus had a blast playing keep away and herding each other in the backyard. He got to hang out with our daycare buddies Sadie & Nanuk and they were so wore out by the end of the day!

Forest the Golden was with us over Easter weekend and loved getting all the attention from all the guests! He was the snuggliest boy and we sure wish he could’ve stay longer than the weekend! He had a blast running around with all the pups that came over for Easter and chasing the kids around during their egg hunt.

Ms. Luna came for about a week and spent time with our daycare friends too. She was the sweetest little lady and liked to spend most of her days snuggled up on the couch or warming up our laps during work. She was always so excited to go in the car she just couldn’t sit still. She was such a fun lady to have for the week.

Chewy was a last minute daycare and we hope he comes back! (ETA Just got the update he will be here tomorrow and Friday and we are wildly excited, he is so stinkin sweet). He was such a polite boy and loved laying in the office with us or snuggled up in the pillows on the couch, watching the birds.

A few pictures of our daycare lady Ms. Sadie and our buddy Nanuk as well. We are so bummed Sadie’s mom’s contract is coming to an end. They’ll be headed home to Louisiana but we were so happy to have her spend last weekend with us and she’ll be having a sleepover Thursday too so mom can get ready for the trip home! We’re hoping they make their way back sometime so we can see them both again, they will be missed terribly. We are just so thankful to have met them. ❤️

We’ve got another busy month coming up and we can’t wait to spend time with all our new buddies! I feel so thankful and blessed that Suburban has been so successful, we have gotten to meet so many wonderful people and their pups. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us the rest of the year. 🐾

We’ve had a few of our veterans this last week for some sleepovers. Nanuk is our Thursday Daycare friend who came to stay while his people took a trip! Hank & Maggie are our oldest veterans who’s sleepovers started before Suburban was even around. We’ve played loads of ball, wrestled, played cards, spied on the neighbors and even napped in the bathtub 🤣 This group is so fun and the door is always open for them! 🐾

Ms. Sadie has joined the daycare crew! She enjoys birdwatching, bones that are half her size, games of tug, and long walks to the biscuit jar. We love seeing this sweet girl twice a week! 🐾

It’s National Puppy Day! In this house that’s every day, but I digress.

To celebrate, I had to post some pictures of my resident dingus, Angus and his 3 absolute best friends - Hank, Maggie & Nanuk along with some of the sweet pups I’ve had the opportunity to hang out with over the last few months after starting Suburban Dog Boarding & Daycare.

I’ve consistently been in the top 3 sitters on Rover for some time now and we’ve had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful dogs and their people.

It’s been kind incredible for Angus & I to meet new friends and an amazing opportunity for me to do my favorite thing in the world - loving on dogs. 🐾

Sophie & Frankie just left this morning, they spent just over a week with us. We had lots of fun, I had a great lap warmer for work, Frankie loved wrestling with my daycare buddy Nanuk, while Sophie took lots of naps on the couch. We had such an eventful week that Frankie had to get a bath before he went home from all the running we did outside. 🐾

Our daycare fun so far today has consisted of busy bones, wrestling, and the new snuffle mat I made last week. Seemed to be a big hit with the boys! This guy is quickly becoming one of our best pals! 🐾

Charley spent a weekend with us a couple weeks ago too. He was an awful big guy and was quite the shadow. We chewed lots of bones and ran tons of figure eights in the back yard. He was the best back warmer every night too! Charley was lovingly dubbed Seabiscuit while he stayed with us 🐾

We lazed around all weekend with Cheyenne and Chloe! Many naps were taken by all and lots of snuggling, we can’t wait to have them back. They were some of the best night time snugglers we’ve had so far! All the pups that stay with us end up with nicknames so we have Cheyenne the “Nun” because of the way she burrows with the blanket on her head and Chloe is the “Chicken Nugget” for obvious reasons. 🐾

We loved having Hank & Maggie here for 12 whole days! We had lots of treats, naps, and Mel threw the ball for Maggie more times than she can count. We were a little sad to see them head home, but we know they’ll be back! 🐾
