We hope this message finds you and your furry family members in good health and high spirits. Today, we need to share some important information regarding a developing situation in the pet health community, as well as an update to our salon policies.

🚨 Health Alert: Unidentified Respiratory Disease in Dogs 🚨

It has come to our attention that an unknown respiratory disease is currently affecting dogs in several states, including Iowa. This illness, which is not yet fully understood, exhibits symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, nasal and eye discharge, lethargy, decreased appetite, and fever. Veterinarians across the country are conducting research, and while related fatalities are low, they do occur, particularly in pets with pre-existing conditions or in older dogs. The exact cause of this disease is still unknown, pending further testing and research.

Our Commitment to Your Pet’s Health:
At Kirkwood Pet Grooming, the health and safety of your pets are our top priority. To mitigate any risk, we are:
--Continuing to limit dog-to-dog contact in our salon.
--Rigorously cleaning and disinfecting all tools, equipment, and areas between each grooming session.

Important Notice for Pet Owners:
If your pet is showing any of the aforementioned symptoms, please keep them at home and do not bring them to our salon. In the interest of safety, we will have to respectfully decline service to any pet we suspect may be ill.

Updated Vaccination Policy Effective January 1st, 2024:
To further safeguard the health of all our furry clients, beginning January 1st, 2024, we will REQUIRE all dogs to be up-to-date with the Bordetella (Kennel Cough) vaccine. This is in addition to the already mandatory Rabies, Distemper, and Parvo vaccinations.
If you have an existing appointment and are concerned about getting these vaccinations in time, please reach out to us. We are here to assist and make any necessary accommodations.

Christmas is coming everyone! We have so enjoyed getting your pups ready to spread some holiday cheer. Soon our groomers will be taking a well deserved break, which will run Dec. 22-Jan 2. That being said, unfortunately we are COMPLETELY BOOKED for the month of December. We have very few spots available after we return from Christmas Break on January 3rd. ATTENTION: Important PUPdate on what's been going on at Kirkwood Pet Grooming!

We are in the last week of our 2023 Fall Class! These 6 students have worked so hard the last 12 weeks, and we could not be prouder! They will be graduating tomorrow so please wish them luck on the start of their grooming journey. 🐾

That being said, class will not be in session from Nov 6th-Jan 16th, BUT we are STILL TAKING APPOINTMENTS during that time! We are lucky to have some dedicated past groomers coming in to get your pets looking amazing for the holidays! We will be here M,W,Th from 8:15-4 and we will be accepting all times throughout the day, rather than the two slots most of you are used to.

We are thrilled to announce that our Pet Grooming Program is MOVING and EXPANDING! 🏢✨ Coming January 2024, we will open the doors to our brand-new, state-of-the-art location right on campus!

Sweet Dumpling! 😍 **ADOPTED!**

We can't get enough of his sweet face! This boy arrived in need of a good groom with some mats on his belly. Our friends at Kirkwood Pet Grooming Program wasted no time making him feel better and look handsome as ever with his lion cut ❤️ He didn't even mind getting his face touched up.

Dumpling is front declawed and is a Persian. He is HANDSOME but we also want his new family to know that Persians require some extra care most cats don't. They have what's called a brachycephalic face which is the flat face you see on them. It can result in health issues others may not face so routine vet care is extra important for these guys. Those little face folds also need cleaned regularly along with daily brushing to ensure bacteria doesn't get trapped in there causing infections. Regular grooming is a must! 🧡

Dumpling is a true gem and we can't wait for him to find his purrfect home! Stop by our shelter to fill out an application or apply online to meet him. Applications must be approved first prior to meeting 🧡

Becky and Madison just recently returned from the All American Grooming Show in Schaumburg,Illinois!! They spent 4 straight days of constantly learning new techniques, trends, and the science behind different areas in the industry.
