The new year is right around the corner and I would like to take the time to thank all of my past and future pet sitting clients I’ve had throughout the years!

As an update, I recently bought a home with my partner! We are now living on the NW side of Cedar Rapids!

One more update!

I will no longer be doing over night/house sittings.

I will still be doing drop in visits/walks from 5am-11pm. As their regular schedule/routine sees fit. I am still going to be doing over nights for my currents clients. But will not be taking new house sitting clients.

Hey everyone come visit us next Saturday Sept. 26th at Elys Fall Fest. We will be having a pet parade with prizes for best and most creative pet and team costumes!! We will have lots of fun merchandise, $5 nail trims and so much more!! We would love to see you all, bring your friends and kids. It’s a family fun event with lots to offer! Also it is an outside event but please remember to wear masks for everyone’s safety. 😁

I’ve learned over the past few months that I really enjoy training dogs! I’m thankful to have the opportunity to work with dogs and also teach them skills and tricks. I love building a relationship and bond with every animal I meet. For now my skills with training comes down to basics skills, tricks and behaviors but as time goes on I will hopefully be able to take over the training classes!

These photos are from a dog I had the pleasure to work with for a few week and train to hopefully be better at home with the family. The team and I at Diersen’s Canine Country Club have had great success with him! We are so happy to see him thrive!

Bring your dog in to my work if you want your dog trained while they’re here! I would be more than happy to work with them!

In case you missed it..

I work at Diersen's Canine Country Club in Solon, Iowa now!

These past few months working here have been wonderful and I can’t wait to see where it goes! I am a full time kennel technician there and now working towards dog training. I also assist the groomers when needed and take care of office tasks. I’m no groomer but the girls I work with are great! I am no dog trainer yet, but just wait till I am! So excited for these new opportunities.

My main focus has always been what’s best for the dogs. I feel like every dog I meet is instantly my best friend and I love watching that bond grow over time.

We offer dog boarding, a variety of training opportunities, and dog grooming!

A little about Timmy, T-man, Timothy James, Tiger Kitty.. the list goes on.

Timmy is a 10 year old Domestic short haired orange tabby.

He’s seen it all. Since my life with Timmy we have moved to various homes from Iowa to Georgia and had various pets and people living in house. He has always been the Lone Ranger type. Minds his own but always down for a little affection. Little is the key word there.

When Timmy was young, our veterinarian at the time recommended we declaw him (don’t go to a vet who recommends this, GET SOFT PAWS) so trusting our vet we agreed. If I would have known what I know now I would have never gone through with it. Timmy awhile after getting the front claw removal done, started to become short tempered and a little grumpy, sometimes he would bite us, was touchy with his paws and he wouldn’t use the litter box every time he needed to go..

Side note: cats who get declawed, front or all paws. Start to develop these issues: painful paws, behavior problems, litterbox issues, and more are possible.

After battling with Timmys new behaviors my parents decided maybe Timmy wants to go potty outside, maybe that’ll be better for him. I was at a loss and was worried about him surviving outside being his main form of defense was gone. Yeah he’s has all his teeth and his back claws but what about the other animals out there and the cars and the people?

Well. Timmy has successfully and happily been an indoor outdoor kitty for over 5 years now and although my boyfriend Kris and I still worry while he’s outside frolicking. Timmy knows where his home is and comes back everyday. Even does check ins during the day. We try to keep him in at night but let him go out for a few hours every so often. Timmy is practically a dog. This summer I plan to get a leash and try some walks with him!

Since living in Swisher, Timmy has made some friends in the neighborhood as well. A few kids who like to stop by and say hi and an older man who lives across the street.

Timmys favorite things to do are: be outside, cuddle on a warm bed somewhere private, eat food, catch mice, and play with catnip balls, and sometimes pick on his siblings Timber and Ridge.

2020 is here! However most of these pictures are from the beginning of winter! Just giving you all a final update on how Pet Care by Brie’s 2019 was and what 2020 has in store.

Here’s some photos of kiddos I had the pleasure of spending time with the last few months! Aren’t they precious.

Now 2020, has a bright forecast. I am always taking new clients and pushing myself to grow and see more. I am planning a few trips of my own for this year so if you know of any trips coming up give me a shout or heads up so I can plan accordingly and still be able to watch your pets while you’re away!

Another short update; I do not take house sittings in Iowa city, unless the stay is 3 days or less. Stopping by 3-4 times a day I can absolutely do but as you can see in some of my photos, I have pets who need me too. 3 kitties who want their mom home too.

I do cover coralville, north liberty, swisher/shueyville/ely, cedar rapids, tiffin, and solon!

I love spending time with animals. Who doesn’t!? I love it so much, I am also interested in a business endeavor that includes dogs. Still bouncing around ideas but I am excited to expand those ideas and hopefully create somewhere for you and your dog to play in the near future!

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! Snow is here.. ❄️

With that being said, days when it’s below 30-40 degrees, any dog walks or potties will be kept shorter for anyone using my services! 5-15 minutes depending on the weather. I always try for longer walks if at all possible.

Providing them with a sweater and booties (if they will comply) are always good when going outside in the winter.

Their feet can’t handle really cold weather like we have been getting in Iowa. So puppy indoor play time during this time is a must! 🎾

This is Ridge everyone! Story time below 🐾

He is a 5 year old Domestic Shorthaired Tabby cat!

Recently, this little guy has been through a lot. Sometime over the summer he started to develop a blockage in his urinary canal. Which then started to cause some other problems along the way.

One morning when I woke up, I went to feed Ridge and his siblings Timber and Timmy. After preparing the food, the kids were in the kitchen begging for their feast. When I went to put out their food, Ridge was no where to be seen, this was VERY abnormal for all of them. I was immediately concerned, was he stuck somewhere, sleeping still, going potty, hurt, sick, where was my boy??

He comes out from the hallway crying to me, walking slowly. I could tell immediately something was wrong. He then proceeded to try and use the litter box, but nothing was coming out. He was not feeling good. After trying to feed him, he went back in and out, in and out, of his litter boxes. I then knew I had to do something, after getting some professional advice (Thank you Mckenna, Savannah and Jen) I took him to the emergency up in Cedar Rapids called Eastern Iowa Veterinary Medical Center and they were able to catch it in time and help save my boy.

In these situations, things can get worse so fast. Making sure he got the best care was the only thing I could ask for. Hoping after his few days in the hospital he could come back home to his siblings and be on the road to recovery.

Ridge is now doing well! He is back home, on a special urinary diet now. We are trying our best to keep his routine on point and his area stress free. I am planning to get him a drinking fountain soon to hopefully increase his water intake.

I love this boy with all my heart. Of course I have room for all the other animals out there too.

Thank you to everyone who was there for me during this time and who was able to care for him while I was on vacation shortly after 💕
