We have lots of great kitties looking to be adopted! Visit us this Sunday from 12-2pm for our Cat Tailgate Party (aka...Cat Adoption Event!) at Last Hope Animal Rescue!
Did you know World's Best Cat Litter supplies Last Hope with litter, including a free adoption box that accompanies every kitty to their new home when they get adopted?
As you can see, we got to bring out one of these awesome boxes this week…because Stevie was adopted! ❤️
Broly & Willy's Winter Wonderland!
Seems like there are two types of people this time of year...those that are enjoying the snow and cold weather like Willy, and those that would prefer to hide from it like Broly! 😂
Dodger on the Hunt
What do you do with dogs when it's too cold and snowy to go outside on a walk? You hide treats and watch them frantically search for them! Here is Dodger (sped up a little) looking for his prize.
Dodger would love a running partner but walking would be good, too. He should be the only dog in a home with an experienced dog person. A fenced yard would be safest for him. He would probably be fine with kids six and older.
You can find our adoption application at https://adopthope.org/adopt/.
When you’re a kitten who’s having a rough day, in this case from painful injuries to your head and eye, there’s nothing better than a little love and belly rubs!
A huge shoutout to our friends at Cedar Rapids Animal Hospital, not only are they providing the medical attention needed to get this little one feeling much better, they are also providing the TLC needed to keep this kitten as comfortable and relaxed as possible.
It’s a special person that will go above and beyond to show compassion for animals in need and for that we are very thankful to have found a friend in veterinary assistant Ashley and Dr. Marty Weber.
We are anticipating moving forward with surgery this week to remove the badly injured eye, but in the meantime please enjoy these soft purrs and biscuit making skills!
What do you do when it’s too hot out for a good walk? Why, you go to PetSmart for a stroll and lots of good sniffs!
Nix sure enjoyed herself today, and we’re pretty sure she’d take a job as a “quality control inspector” if she’d get paid in tasty treats every day! 😉 This girl is super smart and still in need of a foster or forever home. Be sure to check out her bio on our website, Adopthope.org.
Portia
While some of us are overindulging this holiday weekend, Portia is working on keeping her girlish figure!
Portia would do best in a quiet, adult home with no dogs. She can be a little timid.
We’re especially grateful to our volunteers and supporters who helped to make the holidays extra special for the dogs and cats that call our adoption center home while they wait to find foster or forever families! Volunteers helped to provide animal care at our adoption center during the holidays, they provided extra special gifts and treats for everyone and more than anything, they spread the spirit of caring and kindness!
Enjoy this video of some of our adoptable dogs picking out their very own Christmas gifts! And a special thanks to Barclay for helping to water the tree at the very end 😂
Eenie at Fleet Farm
It's not only our dogs that get out and about! Eenie took a trip to Fleet Farm the other day. Eenie is a very chill cat looking for his forever home. If you'd like to meet Eenie, please complete an adoption application at adopthope.org/adopt/.
Kaia Carson and Her Peanut Butter-Filled Toy
This is Kaia Carson enjoying a Kong toy filled with peanut butter! We love to give enrichment toys like that to our dogs and would appreciate donations of peanut butter.
Donations can be dropped off between 9:00 and 3:00 Monday through Saturday or sent to 1823 16th Ave. SW, CR 52404.
Kaia is looking for a home where she can rule the roost and be the only pet. A privacy fence is also required in case the neighbors have pets. LHAR volunteers love her and that she loves to snuggle and give kisses! If you'd like to meet Kaia Carson, please complete an adoption application at adopthope.org/adopt/.
Hoagie Has an Outing!
We like to get the doggies out for excursions to get away from the Adoption Center. This is Hoagie out for a ride and a treat!
Hoagie needs a patient human who will introduce him to new people slowly and take him on outings to help build his confidence. He would love a fenced yard to run around in. Another young dog about his size would be okay but he'd be okay as the only dog, too. He's not a fit with small dogs or children under age 16. Cats are okay with him.
If you'd like to meet this handsome guy, please complete an adoption application at adopthope.org/adopt/.
This time next week, we’ll be partying with you at Big Grove Brewery for our Wag-O-Ween fundraiser! BUT…it’s scary how little candy we have on hand to give out to the kids that are attending! Please help us to show some love to our littlest supporters and consider donating some Halloween candy. Donations can be brought to our adoption center this week! 🎃
Our fall fundraiser, Wag-O-Ween, is fast approaching! This family friendly Halloween event wouldn’t be complete without a little trick or treating for attendees young and old alike!
Please consider donating candy for us to hand out at the event, donations can be brought to our adoption center!
🌭 HOT DOG ALERT! 🌭 We double dog dare you not to fall in love with this bonded pair!
Henry and Dolly, 6 year old dachshund siblings are on the prowl for a new home together. They’ve just joined us, so they aren’t even online yet but we couldn’t resist sharing the cuteness!
If you are looking to add TWO doxies to your home, be sure to inquire about this bonded pair! They have lived in a multi-pet home before, including with cats. Henry and Dolly are already spay/neutered but will both be getting dentals prior to adoption. They are friendly with children, but do need to be reminded not to jump.
Hoss
Hoss got adopted and it looks like he's pretty pumped about it! Happy life, Hoss!
UPDATE: Booth is home now from his FHO surgery at Anamosa Vet Clinic, so now we can focus on healing. As you can see he’s already on the mend and starting to feel better!
Our recovery timeline is 4-6 weeks of restricted activity, and we’ll also be working on getting some much needed weight on this super skinny boy. We could use some high quality dry kitten food and pellet litter (like Yesterday’s News) to help with the healing!
