Meet Bingo 🐶🐾

Bingo is hanging out at a foster home but is available for adoption (just fill out an app on our website, we'll post the link in the comments, and we'll call you to set up a time to meet Bingo!) Our kennels are completely full right now 😔 we're so thankful for our fosters who have opened their hearts and homes for our pups lately 💕 Here's what Bingo's foster mom writes about him:

"Bingo is a playful, sweet boy! Fetch is life! He LOVES to play with his toys! He plays very well with our kids and our dog but can easily entertain himself also. He loves to play outside and enjoys walks. We learned this week that he also loves to play in the snow!

He has had no aggression while playing or eating. He is very submissive with our dog and they have quickly become pals - often playing for long time periods together. He is a puppy and will sometimes play with his mouth…but is easily and quickly redirectable. After playing, he quickly calms and loves to nap. He is a great sleeper at night and is happy in a kennel or with us.

He is very smart! He is house-trained and quickly learned how to ask to go outside in his new home. He has picked up on simple commands in just the past week with us. He knows his name and “sit” - he is working on perfecting “no” and “kennel”. He was also working on “drop-it” for use with toys while playing but quickly decided that it was easier to just place the toy in our lap when he was ready 🙂So far, he shows no signs of chewing or other problem behavior."

How is this sweet girlie still available for adoption 🐾🐶

Casey is still looking for someone to open their heart and home for her- today she's hanging out in an admin office as she's a little shy in her kennel and loud environment. She is not aggressive at all, think of her more like an empath that can sense the stress from everyone around her and it makes her sad 🥹

She loves adults and kids and gets along with dogs and cats 🐶😺 So far today she has just been napping at our Volunteer Coordinators feet and snuggling 💕

Onyx is a five-month-old cutie looking for her perfect match 💕 She has typical puppy energy and a goofy personality 😜 She is looking for a home that would continue her obedience training to ensure she becomes the bestest dog she can be!

Happy Tails Update 😺

Arlo has found himself a wonderful home and is doing fantastic! His family had this to say:

"My 2-year-old cat Pippin was very bored and needed a playmate to keep him out of trouble. So, I adopted Arlo, who was 4 months old, on Labor Day weekend from the Cedar Valley Humane Society. It has worked out great! Pippin and Arlo have become best buddies who play and take naps together. And Arlo has been deferential to my grey tabby senior cat Frankie, so the two of them also get along well. Whoever helped to socialize Arlo did a great job - he’s an affectionate snuggler!"

We're so happy everyone is getting along wonderfully- Arlo has found his purrfect fit! As always, thank you to those who choose to adopt their next furry best friend at CVHS 🐾💕

Meet Casey 🐾🐶

Casey is a little over 9 months old and is looking for a family that would open their heart and home to making her part of the family 💕 Casey spent some time in a foster home before adoption (thank you Cheryl!!), so we're fortunate enough to have lots of information on her! Her foster mom shared this with us:

Casey is a very sweet dog. When she first arrived, she would hide in one room, but now she's much more comfortable. Still, Casey may get anxious in new places or situations. She thrives with reassurance from her human and is quick to calm down with hugs or a chew toy. She can be hesitant when left alone, so having another dog in the home was a big help for her.

While Casey may be shy or nervous around new people at first, she warms up quickly. She's not aggressive at all - even when meeting new voices or barking at passing strangers, her actions come from curiosity or worry rather than hostility. She's especially loyal to her humans and will happily curl up for a nice cozy nap next to you.

Casey is fantastic with other dogs! She's curious and playful with cats, and although she gets excited and playful around them, she's never rough. A home with older, calmer children would be ideal for Casey.

After a good play session, she'll take long naps and sleeps soundly through the night. She's also fond of popcorn and ice cubes - two of her favorite treats that she'll eagerly accept. Just be warned: she's a bit of a snack thief, often trying to sneak the other dog's treats!

Casey would do best in a home with a calm and experienced owner who and can provide a stable, loving environment. A family with another dog or two would be ideal, as she enjoys the companionship and comfort that other pets offer.

Great news time! Mercer, the admin office kitty, was adopted yesterday 😻 Mercer was with us almost an entire year while he was treated for his allergies and getting back to top notch health (thank you to our friends at Critter Crusaders of Cedar Rapids for helping us with his case!). It was definitely too weird and quiet without anyone in the office for the first couple hours here today.

Now, meet Odin! While initially a shy big handsome boy, he's warming up as the day goes on. Playing, snackin' and getting pets 🐾🐶

Happy Tails Update 🐾

Iris and Anna (formerly Arcana and Winnifred) were adopted back in late March of last year and are the best of friends in their home 💕While they didn't come in together, they sure have bonded over the past year 😻 Their family sent us a quick update on how things have been going:

"They've both settled into our home very well. Iris loves to lay in her bed in our picture window and Anna's favorite spot is on the very top of the cat tree."

We're so happy Iris and Anna have found a purrfect home and as always, thank you to those who choose to find their next furry best friend at CVHS 😺🐾

Saturday Spotlight 🐶

Meet Mister 🐾 This handsome boy is estimated to be close to 6 years old- he originally came to CVHS as a stray and unfortunately was not claimed. He is very much a typical husky and would love a home that appreciates a good conversation 🤣 He knows basic commands and is a very smart pup! He has not been tested around other dogs at this time, but we would require a meet and greet with any pup(s) in your home before adoption. He does not seem to mind them in passing here 🐶🐶🐾

Meet Adeline 😻🐾

Adeline is a sweet kitty with LOTS of kitten energy! She enjoys running around, playing with her toys (she even has a brand-new toy to go home with that her foster mom, Lori, dropped off for her 🥹). She gets along well with other cats and was in a foster home with dogs as well.
