Iowa Humane Alliance is a Cedar Rapids/Iowa City Corridor area nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to ending the animal over-population crisis and eliminating euthanasia of healthy and adoptable pets in Iowa. One of the ways they accomplish this is through the Iowa Humane Alliance Regional Spay/Neuter Clinic which offers high quality, low cost spay and neuter services five days a week for s

helter, owned and free roaming animals. Programs Include:

Iowa’s only high-quality, low-cost, high-volume spay/neuter clinic

I-TRAP– provides training on how to humanely trap-neuter-return community cats, discounted spay/neuter, and live, humane trap rentals

Spay Iowa– Referral system for low-cost spay/neuter resources

Love for Pets– Providing low-cost spay/neuter, vaccinations, pet supplies, and microchips for under-served neighborhoods locally

Transport– Partnerships in remote areas which allow both public and shelter animals access to affordable spay/neuter (Includes: Dubuque, Muscatine, Waterloo/Cedar Falls, and Washington, Iowa)

Today is Employee Appreciation Day and we would like to salute our awesome IHA Team! We are so proud of this wonderful group of talented and caring individuals. Each and every team member takes special care to provide the best, high-quality service for every single patient. Thier comfort and safety is our priority, and we often see our team providing kisses, belly rubs and snacks when appropriate.

Today is "Thank Your Pet Sitter Day" and we would like to extend our gratitude to all the awesome pet sitters out there. These folks work hard and when we are away, enjoying a break for the weekend or holidays, they work even harder. They offer a special service and/or a special place to give you peace of mind and your pet a safe and fun place to be until you are together again. That is a valuable service.

Our clinic is in need of 70% isopropyl alcohol. Donations of this item help us keep more of our dollars going toward programs and services and less on cost for supplies. Donations can be dropped off at the IHA Clinic during our regular business hours, M-F.

This adorable little guy is Cupid and he has stolen our hearts! He is our superstar today because he was neutered on World Spay Day, at 4 months old. He is now ready to be adopted through Cedar Rapids Animal Care and Control.
He now has a better chance at a happy, healthier, longer life because his neuter was performed before he reached sexual maturity.
We wish him the best in life with a safe and loving home and family. Happy World Spay Day!

This is Romi and Simea! They are both 4 months old and litter mates. Romi is getting neutered and Simea is getting spayed today at the IHA Clinic. It's a very good thing that they are here today because they will reach sexual maturity at 4.5-month-old!
Did you know that litter mates can litter?! We often get the question, “can siblings’ mate with each other?” or “can mom or dad mate with their offspring?” YES! You better believe it! Too often we hear from people who allowed their pets to have a litter, with the intention of finding homes for all of them. They realize they are unable to find homes before the kittens or puppies reach sexual maturity and then they really have a situation on their hands!

Four-month-old Target (left) was spayed at our clinic yesterday and her four-month-old friend Trader Joe was neutered here yesterday as well. Their surgeries were quicker and easier because they are still young and have not reached sexual maturity. Because they are not as fully developed as their adult friends are, they’re under anesthesia a shorter period of time. Less time under anesthesia and their young age, allows them to recover faster, with less chance of infection.
Now they are up for adoption through Washington Paws & More Animal Shelter. Hooray for pediatric spay neuter, because it prevents accidental litters and saves lives!

🐾 We have a LIMITED amount of DOG appointments available for tomorrow - Wednesday, February 19th. If you are in need of getting your dog spayed or neutered and live within 50 miles of our clinic in Cedar Rapids, please give us a call. Appointments will fill quickly, so don't hesitate!
