Just saw some news feed on a page that was complaining of rabbit people charging high prices. They felt it was ridiculous. ""No rabbit is worth that or that people are greedy" well, want to know why we as breeders charge the prices we do.. Well.... You are paying for a animal that the owner/breeder has spent 100's if not 1000's of hours working on the lines, not to mention the breeders and years behind THAT pedigree. You are paying for the 1000's of miles logged to go to shows to show our animals. You are paying for all the blood, sweat and tears that comes with the pride we take in our barns. You are paying for the years of experience behind that animal and pedigree. You have to build the foundation before you build the walls and roof. You can always buy to win, many do... those are obvious. But if you do, you can't know the pride that comes when you get your first win, your first big win championship, etc with a home bred animal. You can compete with out winning, and you can win with out competing. The pride that comes with holding your own against top breeders that have been around for many years is a great feeling. If you set your goal to always winning, you set yourself up for failure and disapointment. Sure its nice to win, but it won't always happen. If you have to cheat to win, well, there are no words for people like that. Stick to your values and goals and work hard.
