The latest from Tryon. They are still in need of animal care items. I’ve included a photo with the needs circled.

Dear Neighbors and Friends:  Your response to the request for supplies and goods that we could share with families across our region has been amazing. The numbers of volunteers that have come to assist, in the process of gathering and distributing, has been far beyond our expectations. THA

Tryon Equestrian Center just sent a notice that they are no longer accepting donations.

If you have already made the commitment, feel free to drop the items or donations at Polk Veterinary Care and we will see that it gets to victims in either North Carolina or Valdosta.

Wednesday afternoon by 5:00pm is our deadline.

The following is a list of items that Dr. Hughes and Christie would be able to load and take on their trip to Tryon, North Carolina. They will be leaving Thursday morning.

If you wish to donate any of the items listed, drop them at Polk veterinary care by Wednesday afternoon at 5 o’clock.

If you wish to make a cash donation, bring it to the reception desk and it will be noted and you will be given a receipt.

On Tuesday, February 27, a devastating fire started in the Texas Panhandle. At this point, it is the second largest fire on record in the state of Texas.

Part of the devastation will be loss of family pets.

One way to ensure the safety of your animals of you ever need to evacuate due to a natural emergency is to make certain they are crate trained.

Going through the news stories about the fire and communities affected and a picture popped up. One of their communities had a pickup with dog crates ready to be put together and used at evacuation sites.

Crates are not cruel when used properly. They can absolutely be a den and a safe space.
