Congratulations Olly and Ivy for passing the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen test! As a side note, Olly was adopted from the Golden Retriever Rescue of Southwest Florida https://grrswf.org. In these days when people have difficulties in paying for groceries, rent, gas, etc, very good dogs get left behind just because they are too expensive. If you want a dog, please consider adopting!

Tomorrow morning there is the 5k and the Rotary Pancake breakfast (8/11am) with a silent auction of Celebration Dog Training basket. The money goes to charity and it is a fun event! It is at the Celebration Fire Station, in case you want to join!

The STAR course is an American Kennel Club course and it focuses on learning how to walk properly on the leash, how to meet other dogs and different levels of obedience (sit, sit-stay, down, down-stay, come, take it, drop it, leave it, focus, etc). Also some time is dedicated to work on correcting unwanted behaviors (barking, nipping, chewing, jumping, etc). Advance obedience (on a 30 ft. line) may be covered based on the progress of the dog/s. I don't have more than 6 dogs in the class. The dogs need to be fully vaccinated.
The cost for the group classes is $130/dog total ($120 for Celebration residents) for a package of 6 lessons.

Congratulations to Sunny, Madei and Molly for passing the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen test!
The CGC is the golden standard to show that a dog is well behaved and one of the advantages is that it lowers insurance costs and deposit when renting an apartment.
