Don’t fall for any claims that the outdoors or nature will harm you.

Did you know that up to 4’, you connect with others’ hearts?

So dump any notion that keeping ourselves 6’ away from any hearts, animal or human, is “good” for us.

Next time you feel stressed, go outdoors. Pause. Breathe. Walk on the Earth.

Here in Texas with the fire ants, a bit o’ shoe may be desired. 😜

Happy 88th to my Daddio!

Can y’all see why —
though this daughter did decades in cities — that the true country lovin’ just couldn’t be suffocated forever?

Daddio’s teachings of respect, kindness and appreciation for all things country, nature and animals were more than just guidance.

— They were signposts for where one can land a healthy, calm mind and body, sans worry, depression or anxiety. And with 0 need for pills or medicines.

If time didn’t allow for him to take us hiking or swimming, we’d go snow sliding or ice booting. Or walk the property, picking up litter that had blown in while he’d point out the specific plant life, trees and animals that happened to be visiting.

Meanwhile, he was also doubling the size of our house with ongoing construction and his kids’ help — simultaneously composing classical music ensembles and practicing at the piano nightly for concerts.

Later, he would add acting, modeling, painting, and writing a book, as well, to his never-ending to-do list repertoire.

Side note: My Daddio actually didn’t speak English until age 5 when he entered school.

While still learning it, he thought to ask to be excused to go to the bathroom was,

“Excuse me, teacher. I have to go vomit.”

You can imagine that after a few days of that, the teacher believed he was simply attempting to escape the classroom!

Thanks to his wife’s messages to me of his shenanigans, my Daddio clearly still has some very mischievous ways to keep people guessing, astonished and on their toes!

I couldn’t have picked a better dad to match this cowgirl’s Spirit!

Happy Birthday, Daddio!! And to many more!!

Because as you said last week, you have a lot more to do, yet!

Hannah Panqueque, you keep blowing our minds with your adaptability, intelligence, bravery, goofiness and friend-making magic.

We remember how challenging it was for you to encounter any person or animal without straining, whining, cooing and standing up on your back paws.

You so wanted friends.

And now you make them wherever you go!

You’re still cooing.

— That’s ok, though, because all of the animals get too curious about your, “Pick meeee!” sounds to be afraid of you. 😄

We’re so glad you somehow found us and kept appearing in our minds for 18 months before we spotted you!

— With a little help from my mom in Spirit, I just learned. 🐶♥️🪶✨

And that those Ma’am’s and Sir’s are pretty much expected as a normal response and expression of daily manners.

Otherwise, you might be fixin’ to be considered rude.

Or definitely not from Texas!

Even Hannah giggled when that gent’ called that out from his passing truck. 😆🐶😂

Texas.

Probably the only state where people won’t laugh at our training command for all of our dogs of,

“Good Manners!”

Imagine if we’d just done this when our parents were questioning who had been dipping spoons into the sugar bowl. Or confiscating cookies between meals.

Synced Up Sidenote That Made This Extra Funny for a Blaha:

One of my human brothers, also a Steve, admitted to me decades afterwards, that he was usually the one gifting himself such — plus, candy from others’ St. Nick’s stockings, Easter baskets and more.

We sat in family meetings for hours waiting for the thief amongst we 6 kids to admit those heists. He never did.

Steve owes me those hours back. That is, if I still lived in 3D time. 😜 Or maybe a donkey. Maybe just not named Steve, please. 😆😂

Maria Jones, founder of the Arizona Horse Rescue, Good Shepherd Healing Ministries, was found deceased after having gone missing on September 18, 2023.

Her staff and many volunteers intend to carry her legacy forward for her and her beloved rescued Horses.

In lieu of cards or flowers, if you're guided to donate to help the ranch, her staff has created a GoFundMe in Maria's memory to help care for the horses. Thank you very much.

A kind, sweet lady did this for me and it helped me to not give up my biggest dream!

That one day a family would come for me.

When we first adopted Hannah, she was both nervous and excited to meet every animal and person we encountered.

She’d strain, standing up on her back paws, front paws in the air, while yelping and whining.

“Oh, please, come and meet me!”, she’d squeal, making dolphin sounds.

We encouraged those creative sounds over barking. 😄

This rambunctious reaction occurred with nearly every encounter. Every day.

It was quite the upper body workout to keep her 4 paws on the ground, while holding her back from pulling with all of her muscle-bound might.😄

The No-Pull Harness has helped a lot.

Steady, consistent, calm directive cues have served the most.

Watching her gain her confidence, certainty and peace has been remarkable.

Humans giggle as they go by us and hear,

“Manners, please, Hannah.”

Or,

“Dolphin sounds, please, Hannah.” 🐶🐬😁

If she gets nervous, she knows to move to the outside of us, furthest from the scary or thrilling human or animal.

Look at her now! 😃🤩🥳

She was eager to see these 2 beautiful Draft Horses.

And kept her calm distance, without straining or letting out a whine or a yelp. Or even one Dolphin sound! 😄

Another dog came along and did rear up and bark wildly.

She gazed at the dog and clearly postured,

“Hey! Don’t do that! Where are your manners for those stunning Horses?”

She even watches the Salt River Wild Horses quietly!

We are amazed by her progress!

She’s sooo smart, absorbing and integrating guidance and directives very quickly!

She remembers human words after hearing them once or twice.

She begins laughing when she hears the word, “Tickle!” — Even before we start tickling her belly.

Soon, we will be spelling words like, “W-a-l-k” when we’re still arranging those times for the day.

Go, Hannah, go!! 🐶🥳💛✨

We may lead you!

However, You rule our whole Hearts!

For my Cat lover friends, in case you hadn’t heard this and would love to know for your future furry family additions.🐈‍⬛🐈♥️

You can see here, cats walk on their toes. When a cat is declawed it’s an amputation to the first joint. Basically, the toes are amputated. This changes the way a cat walks and over time causes arthritis to multiple areas of the cat's body. Declawed cats often avoid the litter box because of pain in the feet and arthritis in the body. Please do not declaw your cat - it can cause serious health problems during their lifetime, and there are many solutions to discourage scratching on furniture.
