Yesterday Sarah Sutton from MaxFund brought a special guest to my studio. This is Sully, a Terrier relinquished to the shelter in terrible condition. His coat was nothing but stringy mats and he smelled awful. His behavior indicated he had never been groomed before as everything was scary for him. We worked through it, but I was unable to trim the hair from his eyes. I’ll try again in a day or two. Anyway, he’s back at the shelter looking sharp and smelling much, much better.

My 7:00 am grooming appointment was a no show - 😡 - so frustrating, so my foster dog Sasha volunteered to be groomed. She says Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤️

This is Eddy. I met him yesterday at MaxFund. He’s a stray that appeared to have been out on his own for a long while. His coat was completely matted. I was able to save his cute ears and little boots. He’s going to find a new forever home very quickly! 🐾💕🐾

Do you have a dog that has a lot of eye drainage and you don’t know how to clean it? Here’s what I do:
1. Use a 1/2 sheet of paper towel and soak it with warm water. Roll it into a 1” strip.
2. Place it across your dog’s face making sure not to block their nose. Hold it gently for a few seconds, then gently wipe away softened debris. Repeat if necessary. You can also use a small tooth comb to help comb debris out of the hairs around the eyes. Your dog will be soggy for a little while, but once dry he will be cute again!
If you can, trim some of the hair away to prevent future build up. If you need help, call Sparkling Dog Grooming. I’ll make your baby cute again! 😄

Does your shepherd or double coated dog look like the little lady below? Some dogs are blowing their coats early this year. If you need help with Deshedding, make an appointment soon. April and May will be very busy months for shedding dogs. Look how pretty Aurora is after the removal of all that undercoat.

I’m working at MaxFund today and had the pleasure of meeting this guy. Sir Charles came in a week ago as a stray. He was seen by a vet immediately as he had an enormous mat on his bottom that prevented him from pooping and caused an awful infection. His butt was shaved and he received medication that healed the infection. Today Sir Charles went from rags to riches and is feeding like a million bucks! He’s a real sweetheart too!

Casi (a long-term guest at MaxFund), has come such a long way since she came to us from Mexico two years ago. Now available for foster she is a much friendlier, relaxed little lady with the help of her neurological disorder medication. We used to have to sedate her to groom her. Today I groomed her with no problems and she actually enjoyed it!

Wh**ey Ford (I know, not a great name for an adorable dog), came to MaxFund about a week ago. He had some pine sap on his belly that I gently removed. He got a bath, a little trim to show off his sweet face and soon he’ll be ready for adoption. He’s very handsome and appears to be a wire or Coarse Hair Terrier.
