Pets sometimes munch on things they shouldn’t—like whole rib bones. This sweet dog, Kumo, gulped down what he thought was the ultimate treat before his pet parents could intervene. We quickly took x-rays to find the bone's location, and Kumo was transferred to an ER vet for emergency surgery that night. Quick action and diagnostic testing were crucial in saving Kumo's life. With the heat still in full swing, remember that our furry friends feel it too! Walking your dog in hot weather can lead to heatstroke and other injuries. Here's why: Concrete and asphalt retain heat, making it much hotter for your pet, and these surfaces can burn their paw pads. When it’s above 80-85 degrees, it’s best to walk your dog in the early morning or at dusk. If that’s not possible, keep walks short and stay on the grass. Always provide plenty of water and watch for signs of heatstroke, such as excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, and confusion. If you notice any of these, bring your pet to us right away.

Pet Tip Friday!
Traveling with your pet? Set you and your furry friend up for a successful trip by carefully packing their essentials. Bring food, a bowl, a collar and leash, a waste scoop, plastic bags, grooming supplies, medication and first-aid, and any travel documents. Pack a favorite toy or pillow to give your pet a sense of familiarity. Be sure to pack plenty of water, and avoid feeding your pet in a moving vehicle.
Your pet's travel-feeding schedule should start with a light meal three to four hours prior to departure, and always opt for bottled water. Drinking water from an area he or she isn’t used to could result in stomach discomfort.

This sweet boy came into because he was walking around in pain. We did x-rays and to help locate his pain. We also sent home pain medications. Archer is here relaxing and enjoying his red light therapy after sedated x-ray. We hope Archer is back to feeling better!

PET TIP FRIDAY Y'ALL!!
As temperatures soar, please remember that our furry friends feel the heat too! Walking your dog in hot weather can lead to heatstroke and other injuries. Things to know:
Hot Surfaces Hurt: Concrete and asphalt hold heat, making it much hotter for your pet and can burn their paw pads.
Timing is Key: When it’s above 80-85 degrees, walk your dog in the early morning or at dusk.
Keep it Short: If midday walks are unavoidable, keep them short and stick to grassy areas.
Stay Hydrated: Always provide plenty of water.

It's not everyday at we get to see the cutest Golden Retriever puppies.
Meet Poppy! Poppy's human parents brought her into us for some urination issues. They had noticed she was having more accidents than usually. One of the common issues young puppies get is called puppy vaginitis. This is where the ge****ls get inflamed and causing the puppy to lick constantly. We sent home some wipes and a topical spay to help. We hope Poppy is back to her playfully self and is feeling better!
Meet this silly, "Goose."
Goose was having the best time playing with a sock when he thought eating the sock was going to be just as fun. Little did he know, his human parents know it was not fun!
We induced vomiting on Goose and were able to retrieve the sock without any problems. Before we sent Goose back home we administer subcutaneous fluids and gave an antinausea injection. We hope Goose is doing well and stays away from those socks!

We love to cool off in the cool water during the summer as well, bur remember not all dogs are good swimmers. So, make sure they have floatation device when near water! Stay safe out there!

Here are some summer safety tips for walking dogs in the summer:
• Limit dog walks during the hottest hours of the day.
• Make sure you bring water for you and your dog and offer more water breaks!
• Avoid hot surfaces such as asphalt, concrete, wood, and sand. Walk on grass or use booties to protect their feet.
• Plan routes that have shaded areas where your dog can rest if needed.
*Be aware of symptoms like excessive panting, drooling, rapid heartbeat, fever, vomiting, or collapse. If you notice these, seek veterinary care immediately.*
