This week I had the pleasure of spending time with my little buddy, Oakie. He is in the twilight of his life. A few weeks ago I read a blog by a friend & fellow dog lover after the passing of her sweet dog. As her girl was leaving this earth, she whispered "I've got you. I've got you."
I ended up fashioning a sling for Oakie to help him get up & to help him up & down the porch steps for potty times. Each time we did this I reassuredly whispered, I've got you, I've got you. Then I'd get misty & thought about my friend's words. Oakie seemed to know indeed that I did have him.

Spending the night with my little bub Oakie Dokie. He used to sit next to me in the recliner, but old age has visited his body tenfold. He is frail & struggling. It breaks my heart, but am ever so grateful to have this time to spend with him. A very good boy. 🩶
