Come on out for one night of fun and practice for you and your dog. We would love to see this offered a few times a month to give people a chance to just join in on a fun practice session. Distraction Training
These two pups have been working hard on distraction training. We have been teaching them that when faced with a distraction (like another dog) their job is to look at their handler. We started the process much further away from distractions and with distractions much easier than other dogs, but they are progressing nicely!
Kona Woriking on Recall
We started with no distractions outside the gates and slowly added distractions one or two at a time. By the end of the session we were doing recalls with dog bowls, toys, and other dogs just outside the gate.... Fun training session !!!

Checking in on the ACTS service dog practice where they are using a version of Sumacs domino game (Smart Dog Tricks and Games Class) to help teach the command "nudge". Lots of fun !!!!
Good leash walking starts with focus and attention. If you want to improve how well your dog walks on leash, start with general focus work while you are standing still. Treat when your dog looks at you. Watch for them to "choose" to look at you in the face of small distractions. Treat generously so they learn that paying attention to you is a good thing and pays well. If they are solidly paying attention to you while you are standing still, you can start walking and treating for attention.
In Canine Good Citizen class we work on leash walking around distractions. Good job Bob and Galexy

Sniff It Classes
Beginning Sniff It classes are starting on January 9. Get in on the fun. This is a great class dogs who need something to do in the cold winter to keep their minds working. You will learn plenty of fun games you can bring home and easily use as great enrichment tools. Sniff it is fun and easy for both dog and handler. It is a nice low stress fun way to spend time with your dog!
