Blackwater Boarding Kennel

Blackwater Boarding Kennel "Almost as good as home." Boarding and Pet Grooming services from a family business with over 40 yea
(16)

We offer spacious kennels, indoor and outdoor designs, with even larger kennels for larger breeds, or keeping your animals together. Our facility is secured with a high perimeter fence around the kennels, with a yard in between for airing, if desired. We offer an excellent cooling system for the summer, and we insulate for the winter. Kennels are cleaned and food is provided twice daily, and the k

ennels are nearby our home so pets can be easily checked-up on. Special instructions for feeding and medication are perfectly fine. We have over 40 years combined experience working with dogs specifically, and are knowledgeable in the care of cats. (We have three of our own "kennel kitties.")

Our main family business, "Blackwater Retrievers" (named for the river you will cross as you approach the facilities from Highway 50), is a dog training institution which has bred and trained some of the finest Labrador Retrievers in the world for "Field Trails", even for the police and military on occasion. We offer flexible hours for pickup and delivery.*

Grooming services are also available. Cuts, trims, nails, refreshing baths... All of these services are also available by appointment. Please note:
We are closed during national and federal holidays.
*At our discretion, a fee will be charged for pick-ups/drop-offs outside of posted business hours.

The Pet Resource Center of Kansas City has a warning for animal owners after two dogs tested positive and had to be euthanized for a dangerous disease.
They tested positive for a bacterial infection called leptospirosis. The infection can be transmitted to humans.
One of the animals, a 10-month-old puppy became sick after running loose for several days, according to the center.
Leptospirosis, also known as “lepto,” can spread through the urine of infected animals, contaminating water, soil, and even food sources.

July 4th is coming💥
Please be sure to take a permanent marker and write in your info on pets collar in case he gets free. In addition keep your dog in a "safe place," like a crate where they're confined. It can save them from harm and from running away or getting hurt. If they are frightened by fireworks.

Traveling with a pet this summer?
Take a copy of the current shot record and pack an emergency kit. (Not unlike what you’d want on hand for you!)

Dog First Aid Kit
Remember, a first aid kit is not a substitute for veterinary care. Here is a list of things to include:

Bandaging materials: Think sterile pads, stretch bandages, and bandaging tape
Hydrogen peroxide
Cold pack
Antibiotic ointment
Hydrocortisone 1%
Magnifying glass
Small scissors
Tweezers (for bee stingers and splinters)
Disposable gloves
Cotton balls
Iodine swabs
Extra leash
Emergency numbers for your veterinarian and poison control
Collapsible water bowl
Aluminized thermal blanket
Tourniquet
Benadryl
