We wanted to give all our clients a heads up - We will be closing the kennel December 31, 2023. Any reservations that run over into the first week of January will of course be honored. Jon turns 70 in February and we thought it was time...It has been our pleasure to serve the community and meet all of you and your pup family. May God Bless you!!

We have something interesting going on right outside the kennel fence. A pair of Killdeer have decided to make their nest about 10 feet away from the dogs. Go figure that one!! We thought perhaps they might have abandoned the concept after the first egg and all the commotion going on. But NO, everyday there is another egg. Today there are 3!!

Someone asked if we were still boarding. Well yes we are, I have just been pretty slow at posting pics. Our calendar is very full until the end of July. And it seems like the very last thing to do in the week, month (What day is it?) is to post pics!

Our sweet friend Mylee crossed the Rainbow Bridge last week. She developed an acute heart condition and went down very quickly. Mylee was a big dog with HUGE personality. She loved to play and she and our Lucy were Besties. They were delightful to watch together. We loved Mylee and our hearts go out to her sweet family. Rest in Peace Sweet Mylee - You were loved and you are missed.

The final day of Fall break down to 2 boarding dogs Mylee and Molly! Thanks everyone!!

Another good interaction between Fearful Remi and Lillie.

I was really proud of Lillie Mae last week with Remi. Little Remi is quite fearful of other dogs. Lillie kept trying to engage through the fence, frequently lying down to get low and not be threatening. The only big dog we could get Remi close to was Lucy but by the end of the week he was able to be across the fence from zlillie without having a meltdown. Go Remi!

Update on Lillie Mae...
We were supposed to be camping this week, but since that got cancelled I thought I would start training Lillie Mae. Eventho she can't go in the dog yard right now, she can still start school and that will help her fight kennel boredom while she is in isolation. Isolating a German Shepherd is really hard for them - she is on anxiety meds at the moment, which is really helping her cope. This week we are working on "Come", good manners going through doors and name recognition.
Wags A Lot Retreat
Now open and taking reservations
We love dogs. Always have, always will. If you want to see your dog smile, giggle and roll - bring them out for a visit. Our favorite Vet says - “Once you go up the hill, you won’t ever want to leave.”
We are small, intentionally. It allows us to have more one-on-one time with our guests. Let’s face it, boarding can be a scary event for a dog and their human. Our aim is to make their visit one they look forward to repeating. We have a play yard, and nature trails for leashed walks. If your dog likes water, we can do a creek visit in warm weather.
Our goal is to keep your dog safe, secure and as stress free as possible. We walk at least twice a day as long as weather permits. Pick up and Return to Home services are available in a 20 mile radius of the Kennel (But not on 1st boarding).
We have some great nature trails that we do group walks, for dogs that leash well. Or, we have a 1/10th mile track around the kennel for dogs that are not quite so adventurous.
Because we do a lot of group activities, we require all dogs to be well socialized. Behavior problems can lead to fights and no one wants that. For that reason, we reserve the right to refuse any dog at any time. Our goal is to have your dog enjoy their stay, meet some new friends and look forward to their next visit to Wags A Lot Retreat.
