Circle C Performance Horses is focused on producing and selling top performance horses. We take in outside horses and put a good solid start on them, preparing them for their future job. We spend countless hours with these horses, making sure that when they do go home they are ready for anything! CCPH also takes in consignment horses. We can just advertise them, or ride and advertise. They will be

shown at barrel races and ropings every weekend, and only the best homes will be considered. A new thing that CCPH is going to be trying out is lessons. Lessons are done one on one, with or without your horse. We will focus on the basics of horsemanship and the basics to the advance stages of what you are wanting to improve on. Rather it be running barrels, poles, breakaway, team roping, or just riding we will offer a positive place to come learn. Message us for more details!

Happy Monday 🌻

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer!! I know ours has been busy and it’s been flying by.

I wanted to pop in and give a little update for our schedule and changes for 2025.

Spots are opening up for 2025 starting in February. We will be booking horses February-May and then August-December. With farming and the June and July heat it gets really busy. And time with the horses seems to fall behind. Totally not fair for anyone, horses or clients.

In December we are expecting our 3rd little, so time will be adjusted slightly for that month. Most likely can do a short month or make up time after holidays on horse.

Cole does have a spot open for October-December(last minute cancellation), this is a spot for horses ready for outside riding. October will be tons of mountain riding gathering cattle from summer pastures, November is clean up month(meaning getting the last few coming out due to snow up high) and hunting season. December is shipping, and moving cattle in winter pastures. Tons and tons of outside riding, cattle exposure and work! Would love to book one horse for the 3 months.

Deposits are required to hold spots. Please don’t book if you’re not going to follow thru; we had a record high for cancellations this year.. I know life happens but this is also our income so please be vigilant when booking! If you do know things aren’t going to work out please touch base asap so I can get those spots filled!

Thank you everyone that has sent horses our way, it’s been 9 years since Cole and I have started FCPH. Thankful for each of you!

I get asked fairly often “When is my horse going to go faster?”

When you send me your horse to train, my goal is making a solid, safe, confident horse for you to eventually run and enjoy. This is not a quick and rushed process. Creating a solid horse takes a good amount of time. How long? That I can’t tell you, it varies on each particular horse. Were they actually broke enough to immediately start on the pattern when they come to me? Were they confident? Horses don’t work on a time line, they don’t understand what your budget may be, or when a futurity is. So my answer to your question is “When THE HORSE is ready.”.

They may look “ready” to you in the videos I send where they are slow loping the pattern so pretty. But that doesn’t mean they are ready. Usually in a video you can’t tell how much I am helping them stay correct! When they can stay correct with little help from me, and feel confident going through the pattern, then they are ready for more. That is something that is felt, not always necessarily seen, especially to the untrained eye.

I don’t rush the training process. If you want it done quick, I’m probably not the right trainer for you. I prefer to make a horse that will last you, not fall apart after 6 months. Be patient, trust the process, and it will all come together in time.

Class of the day for King:

Hobbling 101.
One of the most important skills in starting horses so many people skip over. They skip it due to fear, their own fear.
Hobbling is one of the most important ground training steps. Hobbling not only teaches horses how to stand quietly, no pawing, but patience. And if there is ever an instance where something is in a pinch around their legs, there is no freak out. They are used to the pressure and wait for you to get them out of the mess they are in. They also come in handy when riding with no place to tie, granted some figure out the running real quick. 😅

✨Slow work makes the dream work ✨

Slow work has been the key to having success with Ace. Working towards lots of patience and thinking things through. Like the caption says slow work literally will make the dream work ✨✨

Ace isn’t fond of one of my favorite drills 😅

With this set up you lope 6 right circles, 6 left circles, you can figure 8 them, lope across the pen to another barrel, and really get them paying attention to you and hunting a barrel.

It’s a great drill to keep them thinking, practicing that set up to turn correctly, loping straight lines holding leads, and paying attention to what your asking.

Yes my barrel instructor is out there telling me what to do 😜

Let’s take a min for and yes it’s Fonzie 😍

I think the true blue ranch horse doesn’t get appreciated enough. This guy is as solid as they come. Clearly branding with a rein around his neck. This is what years of work will give you. This didn’t happen in a 6 months or even a year.

Absolutely 110% these horses are irreplaceable.

So cheers to the horse the cowboy rides ❣️💋

As Covid is down to his last week here it’s pretty cool to sit back and see the work. He is a big c**t and figured out he is pretty strong. He was sent here to get lots of miles, get tired, and build up some confidence he was lacking in himself.
I have only been able to watch Cole ride him a couple times but when he remembers to takes videos that’s when I really get to see him. And this video he is traveling paying attention to his feet and head low, that’s when you know it all worked for his mind!

He is so extremely athletic and personally I think he is going to be something special. And so I extremely thankful when we get to be apart of these horses lives for a short while ❣️

Opening up one training spot with myself, Jessica.

This is for a horse with 60 or more days. The spot can be for patterning on barrels/poles, hauling, seasoning, or problem solving.

I am currently hauling to those small races that are perfect for seasoning and exposure.

Please message me for details 🎉

Flirts first set of time onlys!

It’s been a long time since I have had one of my own that I have clicked with like this. I absolutely love this process 🩷

One of the best things about Cole and I, is you can get the best of both worlds!

Ace came to Cole for work, but one of their goals with him is to run barrels on him. So I said I would steal him here and there to haul and TO and gosh he is so talented!

One spot left! Send me a message to snag it 🎉

Have you ever worked for someone who constantly criticized you?

You might have done hundreds of things right in a day, but you never seemed to receive any praise for those things. You only heard about it when you did something wrong.

At the end of the day, you left work feeling defeated and unappreciated.

Now, think about your horses…

This is exactly how they feel when all you do is micromanage their every move.

When a horse is young and learning new skills, we are often quick to reward even the smallest effort in the right direction.

But, as a horse gets further along in its training and our expectations get higher, we often forget to reward them for doing the small things correctly.

We begin to nitpick their behavior and overlook the skills they have mastered.

We rush through the things that they do well so that we can spend more time on the things that they struggle with.

We think that, by focusing on their weaknesses, we will progress them through their training faster.

But, that’s not how it works…

If all we ever do is work on our horses’ weaknesses, they forget what it feels like to have strengths.

They start to feel like their efforts are unappreciated and unrewarded.

And, after a while, they lose their willingness to try.

Horses need positive affirmation. They need to know that their efforts are valued.

Don’t forget to remind your horses that they are doing a good job.

My own 👇🏼

Her journey is what led me to and now that’s a huge staple in our feeding program!

I am so excited for Flirt. She was diagnosed with epm last year, so we are behind. But we got that under control and feeling better so it’s go time now. Inching closer and closer to being able to enter her!

I am placing an order for SLH if your needing a restock or want to try!!
