Charlie was feeling spunky today. He did great with mobility exercises before and after his massage. Charlie had strong opinions about working for treats 🤣 but gave in (sort of) in the end!

Clos acted like a teenager today: a lot of noise and foot stomping followed by napping and silence once he realizes you’re right. He earned his banana treat in the end. Always happy to see those soft eyes and relaxed head when I leave him ❤️

The chickens surprised Tina with a workout before our session today. She was determined to kick that hind leg out until she was rewarded for standing square. Such a sassy mare!

Don’t tell Dee she’s a senior. She likes to be first in and isn’t scared to chase down mares 1/4 her age. She is such a character 🤣

Leopold and Figuero show a rare calm moment after our session. These boys love running on their 50 acres and keeping the fowl in check. They have the energy of at least 4 dogs between them! 😂❤️🐕

Clydesdale Quade has a beautiful trot and makes everything look effortless. He loves having his legs massaged and isn’t afraid to lean in for extra cookies.

Morgan cross Zephyr shows off his stride after our session. He has had issues in the past with stepping short and favoring one side. He decided to give my ponytail a taste to thank me.

Spirit and I have developed a great relationship over the past few years. I can feel when he's due for bodywork during our lessons. When his back is tight, it is harder for me to post and he tends to trip over his feet during gait transitions. He is a much smoother ride after our sessions and much more obedient to lighter pressure.

Dee is never shy about sharing her feelings. When her back is sore she can be very nippy. Our sessions keep her back flexible and help her relax under saddle. Dee loves to lead her trail ride group and show off her speed in the arena.

A great article from the AKC about how music can help dogs relax. I have different playlists for sessions with different animals. For horses that don’t like being alone in the barn or who are reactive to noises, the music helps them relax so they can get more out of their sessions. Drill team and performance horses tend to like more upbeat music and even bop around to the beat during their treatment. With my therapy clients at the vet hospital, it can take dogs longer to relax because they associate the vet with shots and other negative experiences. I use music, along with lighting and aromatherapy, to create a relaxing environment. Yesterday, a client told me her dog found the theme to Bonanza relaxing. Whatever works 🤣🐶

Before adding music into your dog's life, it helps to know how dogs use sound to navigate their world.

Sweet Dee waited for me in the aisle instead of going out with her turnout group. ❤️ I love senior mares and their sassy energy. My entire shirt was soaked after her kisses 🐴
