We want to remind everyone to be careful with your dogs this time of year!
Dogs can overheat in a very short amount of time in this season of the year. The chart below shows that even temperatures of 80 can be extremely dangerous for some dogs. Avoid walking on pavement, and limit exposure as much as possible.
Keep your dog inside as much as possible and when outside be sure to provide shade and fresh water. Cooling vests and fans are also great additions!

Signs of heat stroke include: Bright red gums and tongue, curled tongue, wobbly legs/ unsteady, vomiting, and more. For our working dogs the moment we see a tongue curl they are done working.
To cool your dog keep in mind they deal with heat through panting and their paw pads. Wetting down their bellies and armpits / paw pads can make a big difference in a quick cool down. Be smart and if you are hot it's safe to assume they are as well. With that being said please avoid giving your dog ice water as the temperature difference can be too great and create more problems in the cool down process.

Though today was soggy, we wrapped up another fun UKI trial held this weekend at VIP Dog Sports. Our judge Jeff Boyer did a great job and had a fun positive attitude all weekend. Courses were a combination of fast, fun and challenging and often made you think. It was definitely a crazy weather weekend with sunny skies in the 80's on Saturday and then a cool rainy day in the 50's on Sunday. I believe the dogs liked Sunday better!
Thanks to all our competitors who came out, and double-thanks to everyone who volunteered to make this a perfect weekend!

Change to how dogs are treated starts with us. Dogs belong with the family, not chained outside or left alone in empty yards. They should not be left in crates for hours on end or left alone while we vacation. Change for what is acceptable starts with us. Make the change, make your dog part of your family, not part of the landscape.

VIP Dog Sports comes to Central, South Carolina to offer it’s residents a wonderful way to spend time with their pets. VIP Dog Sports is a premier dog training facility that offers training for all ages of dogs. We offer Puppy and Adult Foundation classes, Agility Class, Tricks classes and K9 Nosework classes. Offering day and evening options as well as group and private lesson options.

VIP is new to the area having moved to the Carolina’s in May of 2018. We originated in Colorado owning and operating our sister company Friendship Academy in Peyton, Colorado. Wanting a change, the business has been passed on and continues to run while we get a fresh start at our new venture VIP Dog Sports. Our future plans are to open an event center where we can host many different types of dog sports activities.

VIP Dog Sports is very excited to be here and has many great plans for it’s new facility. Stay tuned.
