So it's been a crazy 24+ hours. Rosie finally went into labor yesterday morning. First pup at 130pm, 2nd at 2pm, and then we had a long delay and a stuck puppy. Thankfully, my local vet was still open, and They were going to be able to see her for a c section. Well, on the fast drive there, down a bumpy road, she had the puppy in my truck. Thank God I tossed a welping pad on my seat before I put her in it. Had to pull over and give the pup some CPR. After a few minutes, the pup was fine, and I ran back home. Told vet we're okay. Well, I thought we were. Then she stopped having contractions, and of course, it's now after hours, and thethe better ER vets are 1.5-2 hours away. Called a few and had one setup if needed. Lucky using a few breeder tricks I was able to get her contractions going again. Was a very rough night, though. The last puppy came at 5 a.m., and I was still missing 2 placenta. Those finally came around 8 am. Up 40 l hours with just a quick nap. All the pups look fine and have had colostrum, so things should hopefully be well. Still too much stress for me for one day. These are full European basset pups. Rosie has the best temperament of any dog I have ever met. She doesn't bark, she isn't food aggressive at all, and she's always very polite to people and other dogs. I'm thankful she didn't have to go through a c section.
The pups are definitely enjoying this nicer weather with some outside playtime. European/American bassets and Bagle puppies having fun.
