This morning was one of those times when I was moving a little slow to go care for my buddies. Once I got to the third stall, my energy started kicking in and like always I am glad I am there. Looking across the arena the sun started to peek through the trees and the fall foliage is looking beautiful what a wonderful morning.

When the little says Grammie, if you buy me a pony, I wouldn't need my imaginary one anymore. Okay, anyone have any leads on a kid friendly pony?

Little tip I found, don't break and remove all the ice from the water bucket. Just punch a hole. As the horse drinks the water down, the top layer of ice acts as an insulator and it doesn't freeze. So far it has been working. (This is what I came into this morning, I do pull the ice and refill in the afternoon)

Tales from the barn.... We have reached the time of year when we turn the horses out during the day. I have a couple I am able to just open their stall doors and the gate at the end of the arena to let them out. Now there is a bit of a step as they go out the gate, but nothing big. I however am always worried one might trip (I know they are horses and deal with a lot more than that on a normal basis), this morning I caught myself telling the big guy to use walking feet please. Not sure who is crazier, me talking to a horse like he is a preschooler or him for actually slowing down and walking through. Hmm, I wonder if I say this more often than I realize?

With warmer weather upon us, please remember to be mindful of asphalt temperatures and watch out for your dogs paws. Also, never leave a pet unattended in a vehicle.

Sunday mornings at the barn are one of my favorites. A quiet time to think and have conversations with the horses. Today as I was walking through the arena, I started debating if I should water or not. Anybody that has been in an arena understands how dusty they can get. I started laughing because I realized how I spend most of the year unplugging gutters to keep from flooding the place and the rest of the time turning the sprinklers on to keep the dust down. I guess I am never happy. Have a great week everyone.
