I don’t know what to say, other than I’m devastated. We made the heartbreaking decision to assist Toto over the rainbow bridge, as her condition just deteriorated so fast. The vet feels that she most likely had a brain tumor and with her age, bad heart, kidney and liver values, there was really nothing we could do for her. I can’t tell you how heartbroken I am, and it’s doubly hard since we just lost Pebbles last week. I would have done anything to save my little Toto, but I have to be fair to her and not let her suffer. I’m just glad that she went quickly and didn’t linger in a gray area. Rest in peace my precious girl. Life will not be the same without your spunky personality.
We have some very sad news to share this morning. Late yesterday afternoon, we took our seeet, precious Pebbles to be assisted over the rainbow bridge. Pebbles has had dementia for about a year, and a couple of months ago was diagnosed with beginning stages of kidney disease. The past couple of weeks she hasn’t had much of an appetite, but yesterday, for reasons we don’t know, she could not walk. Her back legs were splayed out and as much as we tried to help her, it was apparent that she was stressed and was not going to get better. We don’t make these decisions lightly and would have done anything to make Pebbles better, but sadly we have to realize the kindest thing we can do for them is to let them go peacefully. Goodbye my sweet Pebbles, you have a lot of friends waiting to greet you. We are already missing you terribly.
As 2024 comes to a close, we are filled with gratitude for our incredible supporters. Whether you’ve been with us from the start or just joined our rescue family, know that your support means everything to us. We take a moment to honor our precious angels who left us this year. Though their loss is never easy and each one takes a piece of our hearts when we have to say goodbye, we find solace in knowing that we provided love and comfort until the end. Farewell my sweet babies, your memories inspire us to continue our mission.
Merry Christmas from our Healing Hearts home to yours. Here’s a little video of the pups just hanging out waiting for Santa, but some have put themselves to bed upstairs already. Like people, the older we get, the earlier we go to bed😁. We hope you all get to spend your holiday with friends and family and we thank you for your support.
Sound up! Destiny went from living outside in a rabbit cage and being bred back to back, to living her best life living indoors snuggled up on the couch with her people and doggy friends. This is why we do what we do! On a sidenote, how does a little 6 pound dog snore so loudly😂?
As Scooters oral cancer advances, he has become selective about his meals, and we kindly accommodate his wishes, reverting to our reliable favorite, baby food! When our dogs reach a certain life stage, we allow them to enjoy their preferred foods. By donating to Healing Hearts, your contributions support not only medical care but also all the necessities for our dogs' comfort and well-being.
We hope you will consider donating to us on this coming Givng Tuesday. As always, we are forever grateful for our supporters.

I love seeing these 3 precious girls romping around the yard enjoying their freedom from being kept in outdoor rabbit cages being bred to death. We are addressing some medical issues, but they are eating well and seem so happy and content to be in a warm home with soft beds to snuggle in, without any confinement. We will keep everyone updated as we get to know their medical needs.
Rest in peace my darling little Buffy. I would have done anything to give you more time, but your little heart was just too tired to keep going. As hard as it was, I knew the kindest thing I could do was let you go peacefully before you suffered. We are going to miss you terribly, our resident groomer of the dogs, and I promise we will take care of your sister Lily.
We are so sad to report that our precious little KoKo has passed away peacefully. We were planning on taking her this morning to assist her over the rainbow bridge, but KoKo’s little body had other plans. KoKo came to us just over a year ago at the age of 14 after her owner could no longer care for her. When she arrived she was underweight and had not had any medical care for several years. She was also blind, but learned her way around like a little champ. KoKo had her favorite spot in front of the big picture window where she would look outside and snuggle under her blankets. What an honor it was to care for this sweet girl and give a soft place to land in her final year. We are going to miss her terribly.
No words right now. Just completely heartbroken as we had to say goodbye to our precious, precious Tristan.
Can’t believe it’s been a year since we lost Bailey.
