Since the bitter cold temps have passed, many of our special varieties are starting to bloom.

The Middle Georgia Camellia Society will host the Third Annual Camellia Care Workshop January 27, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. This hands-on workshop will teach participants how to successfully plant, grow, graft, air-layer, and hybridize camellias. A demonstration on waxing camellia blossoms will show how to extend the enjoyment of cut flowers for several weeks. Lunch, grafting understock and self-guided tours of Massee Lane are included in the $20 registration fee.

Space is limited and advance registration is due by Monday, January 22, 2018.

Here's another early bloom. It's a Sasanqua Camellia. They generally have less petals and appear more delicate. But their fragrance is stronger than some of the other types. It's also considered a fall camellia as opposed to the other species that bloom in the winter months.
