Today being national chocolate cake day, we thought instead we would highlight the food dangers that exist for pets! These foods are common household foods we keep, so we all need to be extra diligent about making sure these do not end up in the paws of our furry friends!

🚫 Chocolate: Contains theobromine, a toxic substance for pets. Dark chocolate is the most dangerous.
🚫 Onions, Garlic, Chives, Leeks.
🚫 Grapes and Raisins.
🚫 Macadamia Nuts.
🚫 Xylitol: An artificial sweetener found in sugar-free gum, candy, and some toothpastes.
🚫 Avocados.
🚫 Caffeine: Found in coffee, tea, soda, and chocolate.

Hello Ark Family! 🐾

One of our nurses Jenn has organized with the company Glad Dogs Nation to help out with fire relief for the Los Angeles area. We will have our donation box located in our front lobby again, and we will be accepting donations until Monday, February 10th! 💙

Any little bit can help the local shelters and rescues that Glad Dogs Nation will be taking, so if you are able too it would be greatly appreciated. 🐾

Happy Monday Ark Family!✨

We have our winter guide here to share on some helpful tips, tricks, and resources you can access to help yourself and your pets get through this very chilly winter season! This post is primarily referring to cats and dogs!🥶🐾

Cats:
❄️ Keep Cats Indoors: The safest place for cats during winter is indoors.
❄️ Warm Shelters (for outdoor cats): If you have outdoor cats, provide well-insulated shelters raised off the ground. Fill with dry bedding like straw.
❄️ Warm Bedding: Offer cozy bedding indoors, such as thick blankets or fleece.

Dogs:
❄️ Limit Outdoor Time: Shorten walks and playtime during extreme cold.
❄️ Apply paw balm to protect paws from salt, ice melt chemicals, and dryness.
Consider booties for extra protection in severe conditions.
❄️ Short-haired breeds may benefit from coats or sweaters.

General Tips:
❄️ Keep antifreeze out of reach. It is poisonous to dogs and cats.
❄️ Never leave pets unattended in vehicles during cold weather.
❄️ Ensure water bowls don't freeze. Use heated bowls or replace water frequently.

Some of you may not be very familiar with this, but today is for celebrating all of the dogs that contribute and work on protecting the planet's health!🌎

🐾Celebrate the incredible dogs who are helping advance conservation efforts. Conservation dogs use their amazing sense of smell to detect endangered, invasive, and elusive species.
🐾Raise awareness about the important role that dogs play in conservation.

We have the cutest, most handsome boy to feature today! This is Milton the boxer! He is a newer patient of Ark's, so we felt it was only fitting to introduce him on national boxer day!🥰💙

A fun fact about Boxers is that they are one of the fastest dog breeds! They can run up to 38-45 miles per hour!!!🏃💨
