Meet Krypto, the Super-Dog!

Krypto, also known as Krypto the Superdog, made his first appearance in Adventure Comics #210 in March 1955. Krypto is Superman's pet dog from the planet Krypton. When Krypton faced destruction, Superman's father conducted a test launch with a prototype rocket that carried Krypto. However, the rocket was knocked off course, and Krypto ended up arriving on Earth years after Superman.

Like Superman, Krypto possesses superpowers, including super strength, flight, heat vision, and enhanced senses. Over the years, Krypto has become a beloved member of the Superman family, often fighting alongside the Man of Steel and even joining the Legion of Super-Pets.

We at Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter - CVAS hosted our Christmas Open House this past weekend and we had three happy adoptions! (Enjoy the video below in a separate post). "Lt. Dan" says that when considering adopting a dog, CVAS adds VALUE to your adoption process:
* Each dog is spayed or neutered (if needed)
* Every dog is vaccinated for Rabies (if age appropriate) distemper, parvo and kennel cough
* Each has been tested for heartworm/Lyme and treated
* Each will have a Microchip implanted beneath the skin above their shoulders, for identification should the animal stray from home
* Each adoption includes a free collar and tags
* Every dog will come with a free exam voucher at participating vet offices if an appointment is scheduled within the first 14 days of adoption (please ask for details about participating vets).

HARRISBURG, PA — Governor Josh Shapiro recently signed into law Act 146 of 2024, a bipartisan measure that amends the state’s Protection from Abuse Act to safeguard pets threatened in domestic violence situations. The legislation provides judges with explicit authority to order defendants in protection from abuse (PFA) cases to refrain from harming, abusing, or possessing the petitioner’s companion animals.

This addition to Pennsylvania’s Protection From Abuse Act addresses an often-overlooked aspect of domestic abuse, where abusers harm pets as a tactic of intimidation. This law empowers courts to address this specific threat, ensuring victims can seek safety without fear for their animals.
