Does anyone recognize this vehicle or individuals? At 1:30 AM today someone dumped a kitty off on us. While we’d hope these individuals did so with good intentions, he was without food, water, or ability to use the bathroom and this is considered animal abandonment. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to abandon an animal and subject it to this situation. Additionally, we are not a humane society. We are a medical facility. Human societies are equip for such situations and circumstances (though doing so in this manner is still inappropriate). It forces us to bring an unknown animal with unknown disposition, unknown rabies status, and other contagious diseases into our hospital and puts our staff and patients at potential risk. This can be dangerous if we are not properly prepared.
Indeed we provided medical care for him and he was Feline Leukemia positive which is HIGHLY contagious to other cats. If you find a cat and feel as though it needs medical attention, by taking it somewhere to have those medical concerns addressed, you are committing to the responsibility of the medical care. We do not get state assistance, grants, or donations to care for these animals put in these situations like many shelters do. As many people know who have animals, animal ownership is costly and that is because it is very costly to operate, stock, and staff a veterinary hospital, even more so in this economy. This kitty was humanely was cared and loved for in the short time he was in our care. Please think before you do stuff like this! 😿

This kiddo presented to us to check his mouth because he seemed to wince whenever he would yawn. Be brought him in for an oral exploratory and we were surprised by what we found. OUCH!!!!! Copper had the spring removed, his teeth cleaned and polished, and he recovered quite nicely!
