About the FCTRC
The Franklin County 4-H Therapeutic Riding Center (FCTRC) was founded in 1982 by Bob Kessler as part of Penn State’s 4-H Extension in Franklin County. The FCTRC continues to grow and serve our community today!
Our program is located on 25 acres in Chambersburg, PA. The facility consists of a 10-stall barn, 2 outdoor and 1 indoor riding arenas, pastures, and sensory trails. Weekly lessons taught by PATH/CECTH certified instructors are available for children and adults with physical and/or mental disabilities. While participating in the program, students will learn riding or driving skills and basic horsemanship skills through mounted and unmounted activities. Volunteer opportunities are available to help with fundraising, horse grooming, maintenance, and the therapeutic riding and carriage driving lessons.
