HIGH HEAT ADVISORY!
It's not over yet – An advisory continues for high heat and humidity through 8:00 pm Wednesday evening for southcentral PA. Make sure your furry companion (especially outside animals) have plenty of liquids and cool shade available as air temperature will range up to 100 degrees. ‘Feel like’ temps will be 105-110 degrees. High temps on paths, streets and sidewalks means you should limit your pet’s time walking on very warm surfaces. Watch for signs of over-heating!

Hi everyone, with ongoing animal care there comes risk of illness and right now our cat isolation area is on a quarantine until further notice due to cases of ringworm. Before we are able to take in cats, we will need time to catch up on surgeries (once everyone is feeling better) to make space in isolation as we are full. The sick cats are undergoing medical treatment to get better, but it is highly contagious. With this decision to quarantine for the safety of healthy adoptable cats that may enter our doors, please understand we are asking that you as a community help us by holding on to stray and owned cats until our quarantine is over. Please know our adoption wing is not affected and we are still continuing to adopt our friendly felines, and the public is still welcome to visit. We are doing this to keep the ringworm from spreading to the rest of the shelter and we appreciate your understanding and help.

Rodeo Joe
4 years old
Terrier Mix
Neutered Male
57 pounds
Rodeo Joe is a lovable, happy guy that loves getting lots of love! Rodeo Joe is an active guy that will need someone that can provide him with regular exercise. He loves to go out to the play yard! Rodeo Joe can be shy with some men, but once he knows them, he does seem to accept them. He did well with our tester cat here at the shelter, but we do recommend supervision with cats until they are acclimated to each other. Rodeo Joe may be too much for small children so an age restriction for children in the home may apply, please discuss this with shelter staff. Rodeo Joe has been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm/Lyme tested, and microchipped.

Kennel License #2090

Lou
Terrier Mix
3 years old
Neutered Male
74 pounds
Lou was surrendered to the shelter when his owner could no longer care for him. He is around 3 years old and is a BIG boy at 74 pounds. He loves people! Lou can get to be a little too rough with jumping up when he is excited so he will need someone that can work with him on this. Per his previous owner Lou may be too much for small children so an age restriction for children in the home may apply, please discuss this with shelter staff. Also, per his previous owner Lou should not go to a home with cats, as he chases them and will not let them alone. Lou would love to find his second chance at a loving forever home soon! He has been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, Heartworm/Lyme tested, and microchipped since his arrival at the shelter.
