Our Miley has been sick. She had a vaccine reaction last week and ended up with bloody diarrhea. We rushed her to the vet and got her some medication that seemed to help. The med ran out two days ago and last night the reaction came right back. Her ears swelled in the night both times. They itched so bad that she dug at them until she cried in pain. Then her stomach problems returned. Now she has 30 days of probiotics and meds to try and help. Has anyone had a dog react to vaccines with an issue like this? I remember Sidney has a reaction where her nose swelled but it went away quickly. Minnie was grouchy and not herself for a week when she got a three year rabies shot, but nothing this bad or this long. She is acting ok between bouts but I’m wonderingbhow serious this can be. The vaccine was leptospirosis that we think she is reacting to.

Here is what happens when you close your eyes and listen to music with a puppy in the room. I could literally hear her playing and assumed she was just playing with her toys.

Life with Miley is always busy, but the last month was just crazy. We had five dogs and up to six people staying at the house over the holidays. So now that everyone has gone home I thought I should do a Miley update. She is five months old now and has gone from around 10 lbs in Oct. to over 22 lbs in January. She has stopped the puppy biting and has turned into the world’s best snuggler. She loves everyone and makes sure there is never a dull moment.

Miley has had her first big scare. Mark knocked over a landscape spotlight while mowing yesterday and it is currently laying on its side pointed at the fence instead of up at the tree. Miley went outside and walked in front of it. All of a sudden an enormous black dog started running up and down the fence with her. She squealed to a stop and ran away. Then she came back and stood staring at his backside as he looked over the fence. I’m telling ya, those shadow dogs are fierce!

Our poor Miley has started to have some problems. Her front legs tremor. At first we thought it was excitement or when she was cold. That doesn’t seem to be the case. The legs have an odd shape to them. I’m a little concerned and will be watching this closely.

Day Three - Back to work day. I just couldn’t bring myself to leave Miley alone for the whole day so we declared it bring your dog to work day. ONE of us might have snuck a puppy into their workplace for the day. It was adorable and adorable photos were to be had, but posting them would just give away which workplace she visited. Hint: Second graders LOVE puppies!

Day two… Miley loves to hang out in her puppy playpen. She also got to meet her new big brother Brandon. We are discovering how smart she is. She already knows what going out in the grass means.
