We're a bit late, but puppies always deserve a special shout-out.

This past Sunday, March 23rd, was National Puppy Day! There's nothing quite like puppyhood - the playing, the training, and watching all of their firsts as they accomplish so many milestones. πŸ₯°

We're so grateful that we get to see many patients from puppyhood into adulthood and watch them blossom into the confident pups they are.
Have puppy pictures of your pet? We'd love to see! 🫢

March 13th is celebrated annually as K9 Veteran's Day, honoring the dogs who serve in the military and police forces. Starting in 1942, March 13th is the birthday of the US K9 Army Corp.
We cannot think of a better group of girls and boys more deserving of treats and pets. Thank you for all you and have done.

Chocolate may be delicious for people, but it can be extremely harmful to our beloved four-legged family members. Lethal doses of chocolate may differ between dogs, but did you know that unsweetened baking chocolate can be more dangerous than milk chocolate? Any ingestion of chocolate should be treated as an emergency.
Concerned or suspicious that your pet ate some chocolate? Get in touch with us, or go to your local emergency veterinarian.

March is Pet Poison Prevention Month. There are many common household toxins to cats that we want our clients to be diligent about.
As the weather warms, there are specific plants to be careful you don't allow your cats to have access to. As Easter approaches, one of these plants is specifically the Easter Lily, and any cat exposed to it should be brought to a local emergency clinic for prompt treatment.

We have long subscribed to the idea that all Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are born with the sweetest of hearts and nicest personalities. 🫢 Mia is no exception!
Mia is our March Pet of the Month - and she certainly is one of the sweetest we know. She's a fashionista 🀩 (if you couldn't tell from the photos), a nice and patient girl, and a world traveler! πŸ’…
Mia has been seen by our clinic for almost a year and it's been so fun getting to know her and her family. She was such a trooper for a procedure, and she's always a good sport when visiting us at the clinic!
Thanks, Mia, for being our Pet of the Month!

Continuing on with celebrating Veterinary Assistant Appreciation Week, we're bringing the delightful Anna to our page! πŸˆβ€β¬›

She's our newest member to our staff and she's fit right in. Anna brings a calmness to her. If you've seen any recent decorations or trinkets to open up our reception area, chances are Anna had a hand it in!

From her infectious smile to her compassion for animals, we're very grateful to Anna for all the hard work she's put into her role since starting last year.

Thank you, Anna, for your dedication! We are so appreciative of you. 🫢

It's Veterinary Assistant Appreciation Week!πŸ‘‹πŸ€©

We're so grateful for our assistants and all the hard work they do.
Greta is one of our assistants and she's one of the first people to greet anyone by phone, in person, or e-mail. She's often called the sunshine of the clinic with her unwavering smile and bright personality.

Greta keeps us all on our toes with her silly jokes, but she also puts in hard work to help all of our patients in need. If we've ever helped your pet in the back treatment area, chances are Greta was giving them plenty of hugs, kisses, or cheese!

Greta is truly a rockstar in her own right. πŸˆβ€β¬›
Happy Veterinary Assistant Appreciation Week! πŸŽ‰

Today is National Love Your Pet Day! We know all of our patients are loved year-round, but we thought we'd give everyone a reason to buy their pet a new toy or a fancy new treat. 🀩 Having pets also has added benefits to us humans. They help us get more exercise, improve heart health, reduce loneliness and improve our moods!

Did you know ---
The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) has updated its recommendations and guidelines for vaccines. With this change, they have recommended Leptospirosis as a CORE VACCINE. These recommendations have also been stated by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) and the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVS).

What is a core vaccine?
A core vaccine is recommended for a disease(s) for every dog, regardless of lifestyle or location.

What is Leptospirosis?
Leptospirosis is a disease caused by the spiral-shaped bacteria Leptospira. It can be found in still water, or shed by wild animals. The bacteria can be carried anywhere and everywhere; this means even our pets in urban areas are at risk. Leptospirosis is zoonotic, meaning it can be transmitted to people.

During your dog's annual appointment, our technicians and vets will discuss this new guideline.

Do you have any questions about it in the meantime? Feel free to reach out!

It's February and we're so excited to bring you another Pet of the Month!
This one is a feel-good story and we're so excited to introduce everyone to Cyllene! We have been seeing Cyllene since she was just a baby kitten; she's now a big kitten at 10 months of age, but those 10 months have been filled with events!
At CPPH, we anxiously wait for updates to see how Cyllene is doing. She's a spunky girl with a sister, Callisto, also 10 months! They like to hang out together, and Cyllene is a big fan of running on her cat wheel when not lounging about.

Congratulations, Cyllene, on your continuous recovery and for being February's Pet of the Month!

πŸ‘‹ February is Dental Health Month for our beloved pets. It's a good time to review the at-home care you're providing your four-legged family members to ensure that they have the best possible oral health. We recommend brushing at home and routine dental cleanings to keep their teeth sparkling. ✨ Smelly breath, swelling, excessive drooling, or difficulty eating can indicate an underlying dental concern for your pet. Do you have any concerns? Reach out to us so we can get your pet feeling their best. 🐱🐢
