I currently have openings for 2-3 more dogs in training this spring (February-May).

Make plans now so your dog is ready for next season!

I am far from the least expensive trainer around….but I take a limited of dogs so I can give them the attention they need.

I would prefer to take field-bred retrievers between 5-12 months old….but I am open to taking a few obedience dogs in this spring.

‘Wrecker’
20 Month Old Black Female Lab
Started Retriever - Ready to Hunt

Wrecker was my pick of the litter out of a great breeding. Her father is a Master Hunter and her mother is one of the nicest finished gun dogs I have ever hunted over. Pedigree in pics.

Wrecker has been through Formal Obedience, E-Collar Conditioned, Force Fetch, Steady Drills and has a good start on some handling drills, but not running real blinds yet. She has been around LOTS of gunfire, picked up lots of marks in training (real birds, bumpers and thunder launchers). Come with AKC Puppy Registration Papers.

She picked up about 30 dove last September and about 10 Teal on the Opening Day of Teal Season. She is a smaller female, about 45lbs. She is picking up tough singles and simple doubles with a start on hand signals and whistle commands. Great with other dogs and children. Real hunting experience, ready to get to work on day one.

I had no plans to sell this dog, but I am downsizing on personal dogs and have made the decision to find her a home that can really enjoy her. She is NOT a washout...she has the potential to go as far as you want to go with her....super nice young dog.

I give all my own shots, she is up to date on everything except for Rabies and has been given Heart Worm Preventative every month of her life.

She is located in East Texas. I can send more videos for serious buyers.

Rusty is a 65-70lb male with his Hunting Retriever Championship as well as Master Hunter Title. He has one HRC Grand Pass and Master National Pass. We are excited to have the opportunity to train more puppies sired by Rusty as all the ones we have trained so far were very biddable with high retrieve drive. Rusty has Normal Elbows, Good Hips, Normal Eyes and is CLEAR for EIC, CNM, PRA-prcd, DM, HNPK, RD/OSD, SKD2, and clear of the dilute gene.

Ticket is a 65lb female that is one of our personal dogs and hunted ducks with us for her first season last year. This is her first litter and we are excited to get her back into shape after this litter so she can hunt hard with her again this year. Luke’s pedigree and accomplishments are nothing short of amazing. He is the 2014 National Derby Champion, the All-Time High Point Male Derby Dog. He was Qualified All Age at 2.4 Years Old and finished an Amateur as a two year old. Two Points away from his AFC Title and qualifying the 2018 National Amateur. He is a sibling to some INCREDIBLE dogs, and comes from one of the most successful Field Trial Breedings of all time.

Meg is a solid Hunt Test Dog and one of the nicest dogs we have ever hunted over in the field. She picks up hundreds of ducks each year all over Texas and Oklahoma. She is steady, quiet, biddable and gritty. Meg is a house dogs and loves spending time with the family, going on fishing trips and relaxing on the couch. Ten Healthy, Beautiful, Black Puppies!!!

Five males, five females. Very uniform litter, all about the same size, extremely active, feeding well, and doing great.

Mom is tired, but doing a great job of keeping them all fed and cleaned.

Their mom, Finn, is one of our personal gun dogs, a very well-bred retriever, who has picked up birds all over Texas and Oklahoma.

Their dad, Stroker, is a Grand Hunting Retriever Champion, Master Hunter and placed 2nd in the 2017 Super Retriever Series on ESPN. As a four year old, he is just getting started, and having an incredible trainer like Clark Kennington, we expect him to continue to set the standard in the world of Hunt Tests, HRC Hunts and SRS Competition.

As of now, all of these puppies are spoken for, but if any of them become available, we will post that info on this page.

Mike Whisenhunt bought Jed from The Retriever Resource in 2015 as a started dog to guide hunts with at the Flying T Ranch south of Abilene Texas. Jed has become one of the most well rounded, experienced gun dogs that we have ever had the pleasure of hunting over. This is Slider’s eighth season retrieving ducks and geese in Texas and Oklahoma. There isn’t much that he hasn’t done; from long boat rides chasing diver ducks on some of the big reservoirs in East Texas, pit blinds on the coast, hunting out of field blinds in SouthWestern Oklahoma, wooden duck blinds with doggy doors in private backwaters, chasing crippled mallards through corn stubble and wounded wood ducks through buck brush sloughs….Slider has seen it all.

It has been great to see him helping the great guides at North Texas Outfitters this season as they work hard to keep their clients on the birds. We know that Slider brings his experience, talent and ability to the hunt everyday.

Suzie is doing fantastic for her owner this year chasing ducks on public water! We had a blast working with Zach Elrod in the off season to get Suzie ready for her first duck season. We have had fun getting Remi ready for her owner, Hunter Caves.

We put her through our obedience program, Force Fetch and some light field work all in about two months of training.

Hunter spends a lot of time chasing waterfowl in Oklahoma, Remi will have the chance to pickup lots of ducks geese this season!

We have sure enjoyed training Rosie, she is happy, fun, energetic, willing to please and LOVES to retrieve. She is exactly the kind of dog we love to develop at Retriever Resource.

By the end of the month she will be ready to home to her family, play with the kids and pickup LOTS of birds.

Rosie is owned by Justin & Lindsey Stone and is from our friend Larry Dean's breeding Hagen MH x Spanky SH.

That breeding has been repeated and those puppies should be ready around Christmas....if you are looking for a new family dog and hunting partner...they would be great candidates.
