‼️Groomers note ~ Good to know ~ PELTING‼️
Happily, this doesn't happen often.🤗 This is a matted dog pelt that we had push-pinned to the wall.😲 When a long-haired, soft coated dog has grown beyond one inch, and the owner bathes the dog over and over without brushing or keeping a regular 4-8 week grooming schedule, pelting occurs. They swear they brush their dog, but they are only skimming over the top. If a dogs coat isn't brushed from the skin out, the coat packs down and actually knits together like a sweater on the skin. At this point, the dogs hair (pelt) must be shaved completely off, and the owner (unaware) is never happy with their naked dog.😪 A pelted dog is so uncomfortable, encased with a tight, suffocating cocoon around their body that can cause many health concerns and a dangerous grooming process to remove. There is also an increase in price for difficulty. In addition, pelting prevents air from circulating through the coat to properly regulate the dogs body temperature by Mother Nature's design. Local Chandler mobile Vet, Dr. Kelly agrees. Regular brushing will not only keep your dog looking good but will keep their skin and coat healthy, as well. We appreciate that most all of our clients schedule their dog for regular grooming appointments and keep their dog at a manageable length. This should never happen.❤️ *Click on each photo to view.
