One Dog Arizona is a 501c-e charitable organization. We save animals from being put to sleep in Arizona shelters. Through constant networking via email, Facebook and adoption events we place them in loving foster homes until they find a permanent home. Our fosters are the best ever! They provide the time and attention these dogs so desperately need--Basic training, good nutrition and lots of love are given to them each day.

What’s the one breed of dog that you’ve always wanted to have, as a part of your family?

Mine has always been an Irish Wolf Hound. However, I don’t know if my heart could take their short lifespan. 💔

This little nugget was part of a chihuahua hoarding case. He was the smallest of the whole bunch at only 2.7 lbs. when I saw him I immediately fell in love with that little apple head. He’s full of personality and a member of our family now. My adult kiddo adopted him 😍

We are so grateful to all of our adopters. You help us save these precious lives.

Please feel free to post your adopted dog on this post. And tell us what organization you rescued them from. We love other good rescues ❤️

Yep, that’s about right. Do you allow your dogs on the couch? Years ago I tried not to but, I couldn’t resist their sweet little faces. Now we all get cozy for movie nights together.

This is a good article to help everyone understand dogs signals a bit better. Dogs experience stress just like we humans do. The article might help you to know the signals your dog is giving to get the space they need. Because, most dogs do not want to escalate to a bite. They just want to feel safe. Listening to them will help you to find what your dog needs to be less stressed and emotionally sound.

Above all else—remember to never punish a growl. It’s great communication. And helps you to know that your dog is not feeling well in some way.

By delving into the Canine Ladder of Aggression, we gain insight into the intricate warning signs that our dogs exhibit. See the chart for all the signs!

There are no wrong answers. What is your favorite coat color for a dog? I think one of mine has to be blue Merle, even though I love them all. Never had a dog with a Merle coat though.

I think that there’s a misconception when it comes to rescues helping people find homes for dogs. Whether they are their own dogs or one that they found.
It’s up to the owner, or finder to do the work to get the dog into a better situation. Rescues are here to help. But, we have dozens of dogs on our save lists at shelters—that will die without our help.

What this means is that the owner or finder needs to get the dog to adoption events, they need to keep the dog up to date on all vaccines, help network, and they need to communicate with the rescue about upcoming events, plus they must be able to do meet & greets.

The dogs that attend adoption events regularly, find homes sooner than the dogs that do not attend regularly. On average it takes 4-6 adoption events before a dog has had enough exposure to find a new home. That’s if the dog is friendly, good with other dogs, and people. And solicits attention from people at the events.

If the dog is afraid, shy, reactive, or otherwise has a hard time at events it will take much longer. And the owner or finder will need to do training exercises outside of events to help socialize the dog better. Ultimately, it’s in everyone’s best interest for the dog to be comfortable at events.

Finding good and loving homes is hard. As a rescue we field dozens of emails and calls for our dogs each month. Many of which are not appropriate environments to begin with. We will never place a dog in a home just to get rid of them. We always want the best situation for each and everyone of our dogs.
I personally foster 2 dogs, that will probably stay with us forever. They require special attention due to their untrusting nature with strangers. And they do not do well at events. They do great at our house. We love and adore them. But, if the right home came along we would consider it. We strive to do what’s in the dog’s best interest always.

Please help us find homes for our amazing dogs by sharing their posts, coming to adoption events to help socialize them, and volunteer to do admin work, or clean up & organization of rescue related stuff.

We love our community and look forward to helping the dogs within it for years to come. Thank you for being a positive part of a very hard job.

Kirby will make a wonderful new addition to some lucky family. His cherry eye will be fixed, along with getting neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and tested for heartworms as part of his adoption package.

Yes! We have one of the first designer mutt breeds. 🤪
Meet Kirby the Puggle.

He is super sweet. Playful with all dogs large and small. Submissive. Young. I’m guessing still a pup under 12 months old.
Approx 15lbs. Just the cutest little face too.

If you’re interested in fostering or adopting this sweetie please reach out to us at [email protected]

Whitney is a sweet mixed breed puppy, that’s ready for her forever and ever family. She is great with all dogs, cats unknown, and loves all people too.

She is an active young pup that will need a patient and loving family. To teach and guide her. Plus get her out and about on adventures. Nothing tires a puppy out quite like an hour long walk sniffing every rock and exploring under every bush. I’m guessing that she would be an excellent hiking partner when she is older.

She is doggy door and crate trained.

If you are interested in Whitney please email us at [email protected]

This little cutie was found at a CVS in south Chandler. She’s a bit skinny and has probably had to fend for herself for awhile. Super sweet. Good with other dogs and kids too.

Do we have anyone who is interested in fostering her? It will help to keep her out of the shelter.

Please let me know asap. Finder is holding onto her for as long as she can. But, she has a lot on her plate and can’t foster her right now. She did an amazing job getting her safe and scanned by the vet. Now it’s our turn to help.

This handsome boy was adopted 10 years ago by a very nice family. That loves and adores him. He unfortunately, got out of his yard(without his collar) and was found by another nice family across the street. They took him to a vet and had him scanned for a microchip.
Thankfully, he was microchipped. And our rescue info is always on the chips we implant. With a quick call from the finders we had him back with his family, in just a couple of hours.

Microchip your pets. And try to keep their collars and Id on them. Granted they can sometimes get tangled up in something and loose their collars—which is why microchips are so important.

Dogs come in so many shapes and sizes. Various temperaments and even purposes. I’ve been an avid dog lover my whole life—no surprise that I started a dog rescue. lol. There’s nothing better than a dog. IMO.

I have loved every breed. Which is why I started an all breed dog rescue. I couldn’t pick just one 🤣
My family has had chihuahuas, pugs, yorkies, Malinois, cockers, poodle mixes, Heeler mixes, and mutts.

What’s your favorite breed. Xtra credit if you post pictures 😍 the dogs pictured are some of the wonderful pups we’ve had in rescue. Zeva(large Blk dog) and Ginger(med red dog) are still available for adoption.
