Unleash The Peace

Unleash The Peace Balanced Dog Training with over a decade of experience training all breeds and all challenges . I work with all breeds, ages, and issues.

I work diligently to teach both the dog and human a humane and effective way to communicate, using tools (slip lead, prong collar and remote collars), body language, praise, and reinforcement for good behavior. I am passionate about helping those humans who are willing to make a lifestyle change for themselves and their dog; owners who are committed to helping their dog be the best they can be by creating a calm dynamic between them! In addition, I take a special interest in fearful dogs!

Meet Bucky.
He's a 2 ish year old Lab mix who is having challenges on his leash. He pulls like a madman and has a hard time managing his excitement around other dogs and people.

At our first session, we worked on giving him and his family be conversational skills. We introduced him to puppy pushups, manners at the doorway and looking to his humans for guidance. He is a super sweet guy and loves to please his family so I suspect he will be a pro at this in no time! Keep up the great work, Bradley family! πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Meet Reesie.
She's a 2ish year old Bully who was recently adopted by a sweet family. She really wants to be a good girl and is super sweet, but she is very shy and nervous which causes her to act impulsively in her home. She is SO riddled with anxiety that she broke out of her new home out a second story window trying to find her Mom πŸ₯Ί She didn't get hurt and all is ok, but just wanted to illustrate the level of nervous baggage this girl is toting around. In addition to the separation anxiety, she is growling and charging people that are not her Mom (me, her adult kids, Grands, etc).

So the first order of business was to help this girl calm her mind. She is so on edge, it's palpable and although we can only speculate about her past, we can assume she doesn't have a big reason to trust humans. If we can give her mind a rest and allow her to be in the moment with all of us, we have the best shot at teaching her some life skills and how to dog. So...that's where we begin. It took a LONG time, but sweet Reesie finally let go and relaxed. (Until I brought out the camera, which she's also afraid of as you can see here πŸ˜‰) One day at a time for this little pig and thank goodness she's got a great family, who is patient with her and willing to meet her where she is. 🫢🏼 Keep up the great work, Clark family! πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Meet Bo.
He is a 6 year old Pittie/Lab mix whose owner suffered a health event leaving them unable to care for Bo any longer. Lucky for Bo, an incredibly sweet steps up to give him a home. πŸ₯°

Bo is SO gooey sweet but is tough to manage on leash with all of his pulling, who needed some help with his impulse control and some tools for the Grandkids so they aren't mistaken for puppies πŸ˜‰

At our first session, we worked on giving everyone a way to communicate clearly with one another. We worked on puppy pushups, manners at the doorway and lots of guidance and engagement. With all that's changed for Bo in the last few months, this is a great opportunity to give him a solid foundation and a trusting relationship with his new family. Bo is just the greatest and loves to work! He's so lucky to have landed where he did! Keep up the great work, Diane πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Meet Phoebe.
She's a baby Pittie who is just the sweetest thing, but who began having seizures at a very young age. She had typical puppy struggles with listening, managing her energy and being sassy πŸ˜‰

Our first order of business was to give this girl (and her incredible family) the tools to shut her brain off and relax. Not only is this an important life skill for Phoebe, but a calmer mind also helps keep seizures at bay. We are going to go home and practice relaxing on command to see if we can move the needle a bit on where Phoebe operates from on the daily. Operation calm is in full effect! Keep up the great work, Dybowski family 🫢🏼

Meet Marley.
He's a 6 year old German Shepherd who was recently adopted by an awesome human. His Mom reached out because of his extreme anxiety and fear. Marley lives in a constant state of panic and even struggles to enjoy his own backyard. πŸ₯Ί His Mom and I are on a mission to help this guy learn how to dog. ❀️

At our first session, we wanted to start by building a strong understanding of basic life skills, along with fostering a trusting relationship between them. We introduced puppy pushups, manners at the doorway and loads of engagement and eye contact with his Mom to create connection and a positive experience associated with people. He did so freaking great and they are going home to practice before we give him another tool to add to his toolbox. Keep up the great work, Morgan πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Meet Dot.
She's a 2 year old Border Collie mix who needed some help in the leash manners department and with impulse control. She can be demanding, barky and jumpy to get what she wants and with guests in the home, so we wanted to give her some new skills.

I spaced taking photos when she began her training journey, but thus far she has added, puppy pushups, manners at the doorway, engagement with her people, the structured walk and controlling her desires to herd her people up and down the stairs. This girl is thriving with her be skills and guidance. The relationship with her humans is more balanced as well! Keep up the great work, Wesselman family πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Another day, another new walk! Finn who used to pull like a freight train got a whole new working walk at our last session, sans pulling. πŸ˜‰ This was super important since his parents are both runners and can't be tripped up mid-stride. πŸ˜‰ We also gave Finn new manners at the doorway and worked on lots of engagement. I love the way he's looking to Mom for guidance versus being disconnected from her in the wild. Finn is crushing his walks at home and actually was able to attend our last Pack walk of the season (I'm just always behind in my social media posts πŸ˜πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ). This boy is doing amazing! Keep up the great work, McAllister family πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Another week, another new walk! Oso got to learn all about the working walk at our last session, along with learning to manage his big feelings about other dogs and people. He thinks he needs to act tough, but we let him know that his humans will handle all the hard stuff in the wild. πŸ˜‰ Oso did super and is going home to practice in his environment! Keep up the great work, Vanessa and John! πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Betty and her brother, Shadow added the e collar to their toolboxes at our last session to help them manage their big emotions on walks (and in the house towards one another). The entire family has done an excellent job learning all. If the new skills and keeping the peace at home. Super proud of these guys! Keep up the great work, Ebone and Hunter πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Meet Darlene.
She's a 1 year old English Bulldog who is the absolute cutest little clown, but who is having challenges with recall, barking incessantly, slams on the brakes and refuses to move on the walk and needs help finding some chill around other dogs.

At our first session, we worked on giving her and Mom a way to communicate clearly using conversational leash work. We introduced puppy pushups with emphasis on recall, manners at the doorway and utilizing that conversations to get her to move on walks in moments she's feeling nervous or sassy. πŸ˜‰ Mom and Darlene did super and despite Darlene being unsure if she likes this whole'thinking'thing at first, she ended her first day of school, real strong! Keep up the great work, Danielle! 🫢🏼

Diesel and Moonshine learned all about the structured walk at our last session. Diesel got help to ditch pulling his people around like a rag doll and Mooney learned to get out of his head and stop slamming on the brakes. πŸ˜‰ We need to dial the boys in individually, then together on walks so we can be successful when we add dogs to the mix. They did awesome and all the thinking and impulse control has them mentally exhausted! Keep up the great work Mary and Paul. πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Meet Peach and Bowser.
These one year old Retriever/Chow littermates have been having some challenges with their leash manners, dog reactivity, resource guarding and snarky behavior when they don't feel like doing what's asked of them.

Their parents have had littermates before and are very vigilant to littermate syndrome, so we dove right in to change the conversation between all of them. First up was giving the family a clear and consistent form of conversation using pressure and release. We covered basic obedience drills, manners at doorways and loads of engagement with their humans without relying on snacks. Bowser loves to work his mind, Peach wasn't too sure that she likes to work just yet, but she did great also! They are all going home to practice like crazy on the foundational skills so we can add more next time. Keep up the good work, Mccloskey family πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Clutch! This guy loves dogs...a little too much πŸ˜‰ Instead of getting pully and barky, we decided to give him some skills to manage his emotions while on leash. He was able to learn all about the structured walk and how to keep his s**t together when spotting exciting dogs on walks! Clutch is doing incredible and his anxiety is melting away, one walk after another! Keep up the great work, Lexi and TannerπŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Another day, another opportunity to make new habits! Tucker and Hazel learned to walk with other dogs without any funny business. πŸ˜‰ Tucker has challenges with reactivity and when he comes unglued seeing other canines out in the wild, Hazel redirect on him in an effort to "calm his chaos". As you can imagine, that's wildly stressful for everyone involved, so we worked hard on being calm and collected and they freaking crushed the assignment! Keep up the great work, Karen, Mike and Jax πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Patiently waiting for that weekend! Finn learned all about how to find his peace when strangers are in the house. He tends to get nervous and barky when he is around people he doesn't know super well, so we give him the ability to find calm so he can be included in favor gatherings but doesn't feel the need to run anyone off πŸ˜‰ Finn is doing great with place overall AND has made a few new friends to boot! Going aaaand gone!
Little Roo attended our training camp a while back with her Dad, but needed a place refresh πŸ˜‰ She's an Aussiedoodle puppy who is smart as a whip, but we want to ensure she's using those smarts for good vs naughty πŸ˜‰ We taught her how to learn to manage herself around distractions, how to use calm to center herself and how to give her busy mind a break. She did super and since Mom was also able to attend our lesson, she can get consistent messaging from the whole household to boot. Keep up the great work, Toporek family πŸ™ŒπŸΌ
