Where do we even start, except to say thank you.
You are the best customers a store could ask for. We truly loved each of you.
We have watched your children grow and your puppies grow.
You have watched our children grow and our puppies grow.
The Feed Loft has been a pillar in our community for a long time. The store has been open 38 years, since 1985. The original owners, Greg and Marianne, started it a feed and bait store. We have customers that still come in and tell us they have been coming here since it first opened. The Feed Loft is the only place I have bought dog and cat food for 20 years. Before I bought the store I used to take my own kids there to play with the hamsters while I shopped.
You helped us give local high schoolers a first job. We watched them learn responsibility and great work ethics. Who can forget our employee Moises and his great big smile, always willing to help and love on each of you. He still comes in to see us and we still run to give him a big hug. Or Elise, always making sure the customers were taken care of. Elise loves playing with the dogs and loving on them. She grew with us and became a great groomer. You can see the love in her work and when she groomers your dog she is nothing but smiles. Because of you, I got the amazing opportunity to work with all three of my own children: Hailey, Natalie and James. I think that was my favorite part of owning the store, being able to be with my children and watch them step up and excel. We hired a lot of their highschool friends and allowed them time off to do after-school activities and get home in plenty of time to do homework. We were able to give jobs to moms who only wanted to work when their kids were in school. Nobody was better than Dawn when it came loving on the animals and making sure they had the cleanest cages. It could be a challenge at times to get a teenagers to be excited about their job. But like our past employees, James, Rylan, Alex, and Caleb, our most recent employees, gave it their all and really stepped into their roles. Everyone worked as a team and helped each other out. We were truly a family ran business.
Then there is Dominique, our dog trainer. To know and work with Dominique has been nothing but a blessing. Her strong work ethic and dedication to her profession has made her one of the best dog trainers in our area. She has a true passion and love for her clients and their dogs. I have personally seen her go over and above for her clients many times. She always makes sure they leave with a trained dog that will be a blessing to the family. Like the rest of us who work at the store, she deeply cares about her clients. We are so happy she has decided to continue Paw & Order on her own and she can be reached at 815-510-7341 for future appointments.
We are also excited that one of our groomers, Amy, has decided to open a grooming business. She will use the name Shaggy Dog and keep the location inside The Feed Loft. There will be no break in service and grooming appointments can still be made at 815-721-2176. The groomers that work at there now will continue to work for Shaggy Dog. All the groomers are excited to be able to still be there for our customers who groom. Even though Paw & Order and Shaggy Dog will be separate companies, they will be ran by people who worked for The Feed Loft so you will continue to get the same great customer service you have come to expect from The Feed Loft.
The current building will now be utilized by Shaggy Dog and another local dog trainer, Forever Legends Dog Training. Forever Legends plans on utilizing the space for training and boarding. The Feed Loft has not partnered up with Forever Legends in the past, however the owner has been a great loyal customer and he is excited for this new opportunity.
We are asking our customers to support two other local small businesses, Pets Etc in Plainfield and Cats and Hound Market in Morris. The owners have assured me they will do their best to get our customers the food and treats your pets are used to eating. Both stores are authorized to honor any credits customers have towards their free bag of dog or cat food through the Astro program. Both stores are also graciously offering Feed Loft customers 10% off their first purchase.
It has been a pleasure and a blessing to be such a big part of the community. We hope when you walked in The Feed Loft you felt loved and appreciated. We hope you know how much each of us enjoyed our job. We hope we were able to help you on your bad days and smile with you on your good days. We made it no secret we are a Christian owned company, and we want you to know we were continuously praying for our customers and our community.
We loved being there for our customers and community. We are all very sad to close The Feed Loft, but excited to start the next chapter in our lives. Please continue to support the businesses that were mentioned, they are all ran by people who live locally. Thank you for supporting us and allowing us to serve you, we will truly miss each of you.
The last day for The Feed Loft will be January 11th
