Here are a couple facts to keep your pet safe this summer!
🔥 A dog's normal temperature is between 99.5-102.5 - They naturally run warm! So it doesn't take much for their body to overheat.
🔥 Dog's don't sweat, they pant, it works well for limited heat or exercise, but overall it's truly not an efficient way of cooling off.
🔥 To reduce the chance of heat stroke, it's best to walk your pet in the early morning hours, or evening when the sun is setting or going down. Severely limiting mid afternoon walks to short potty breaks.
🔥 Make sure your pet had constant access to cool water and shade if they will be outside.
🔥 If you're ever concerned your dog may be over heating call us at CAH and we can walk you through some steps to help. If a crisis is occurring the Emergency vet is the best place.
🔥 Signs of over heating/heat stroke: Excessive panting, drooling, bright red patches or gum color, restless/pacing leading to lethargy, collapse, and/or seizures.

The neuter for Milo! We start with an I.V. catheter, which helps us give medicine and fluids. After Milo is comfortable and sleeping, he's hooked up to monitors to help track his:
Heart rate and rhythm
Oxygen levels
CO2 levels
Blood pressure
Dr. ToHill neutered him while an assistant monitored the patient!
He woke up shortly after the procedure and was ready to head home after a couple hours.

Elise, our LVT, spent the weekend at the Animal Dental training center doing a program specifically for technicians! The program helps hone in dental skills including cleaning, radiographs, instrument care, and helping find issues to assist the doctor during the procedure. She is very excited to share her knowledge and improve, our already amazing, dentals for your pets!
