North Star Training Center is looking for weekend help with the potential for more! 4-6 hours per day 6 stall barn with 3 well-behaved show horses at present. Chores include feeding, mucking, arena grooming (if you cannot drive a tractor, we will train you), and occasional grooming of horses. This barn has multiple features to make the job easier, including automatic waterers and a manure spreader which is located so you can empty a wheel barrow directly into it without lifting. Each horse has a gate to their own pasture attached to their stall so there is no need to lead horses to and from the pasture for turnout.

Looking for someone familiar with barn work and working with horses, at least 1 year of hands-on experience (i.e., able to halter and lead a horse, familiar with equine behavior, safe handling habits, and basic care). Hourly wage range is $13-$17, commiserate with experience.

We have a Chapel Hill address, convenient to Carrboro, Chapel Hill, and White Cross/Eli Whitney/Saxapahaw. See 6600 Maynard Farm Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27516 for exact location.

Apply by email to [email protected] or text / call 919-210-7473! Any shares are appreciated!

It is with a heavy heart that our family shares this sad news. Lynn Leath passed away on Sunday, April 30, from a sudden cardiac event at her beloved equestrian facility, North Star Training Center.

Many of her friends have inquired about whether there will be a. service for Lynn. We will not have a traditional funeral service, but we will likely have a celebration of life event in the future when we have had more time to react and thoughtfully plan.

We intend for North Star to continue as a boarding, training, and teaching facility - Lynn very much would have wanted this. As you can imagine, this has been a shock for our family and very difficult to process, so we appreciate your respect and patience during this challenging time while we work through the next steps for her stable.

In lieu of flowers, we ask you to consider donating in her name to Corral Riding Academy http://corralriding.org/give/ , providing at-risk girls and rescue horses with the opportunity for equine therapy, or Equestrian Aid Foundation, http://www.equestrianaidfoundation.org/donate , providing emergency financial grants to members of the equestrian community throughout the United States who are struggling to overcome catastrophic illness, injury, or other unforeseen crises.

Our heartfelt sorrow and condolences go out to her students, mentors, mentees, and peers - this is a hard loss for all of us.

Dressage barn in White Cross area needs help grooming, tacking up, stalls, and generally keeping barn neat and tidy. Sundays off. Experience with show horses is a plus ... but I'd be willing to train you as long as you have experience with horses. Can teach you how to drive tractor if you don't know how. Best to text Lynn 919/270-7060

This can be a full time (stable + grounds) job OR it can be separated into two part time jobs. Stable: keep clean and tidy. Groom horses before and after I ride them. MUST have prior experience. MUST be a clear communicator. Grounds: keep mowed and w**d eaten. Farm located in White Cross/Eli Whitney area - west of Carrboro and East of Snow Camp.

Reeling from an intense zoom session with Susanne von Dietze. Balance in Movement Pelvis and Legs 2. Think I'm going to need to watch this several times to absorb all the information. How to turn from the pelvis. How to think of the leg as a sling. How the hamstrings play a role in our riding. Complicated issues make simple by Susanne!

Amazing and unique opportunity!

Just finished a super informative zoom session with Susanne von Dietze. Balance in Movement ... Pelvis and Legs 1. Susanne explained how the anatomy of pelvis and legs inter-related, and influenced eachother. She then led us through a series of exercises that heightened our awareness.

One advantage of getting old(er) is lasting long enough in this business to teach multi-generations. Donna Christopher took Landor to Prix St Georges and daughter Katherine has taken Fred to CCI*** Eventing. Feeling so proud and privileged to be part of both mother and daughters development 💞

Just completed Susanne von Dietze zoom session #3 "Secrets of the Core". So many fabulous insights. My favorite was her explanation of how the rider is best able to follow a horses trot movement ... the lateral "hip-drops" combined with the "arch and curl" (longitudinal). A "must see" for all teachers and riders that might be struggling to sit the trot.

Just finished up an intensive zoom session with Susanne von Dietze. "Secrets of the core" Delved into how the "center of gravity" and the "center of dynamics" work together. Susanne also explained and demonstrated "stability through contrast". SO useful for our riding! Thanks Susanne!!

So proud of Keni Kerin. Not only has Keni displayed her ability to train a horse - but she has proven her ability to communicate her talents to her students. Keni won both her Int 1 classes at Labor of Love dressage show this weekend. She and her students added all those beautiful blues to her wall. Love this photo!

Today, I layed to rest one of my favorite possessions - my Dubarry boots. I know you say - they are only boots - but I’ve worn these boots almost every day (I might have even slept in them) for the passed 12 years. We’ve been together during many good and bad times. I named my dog after them. But alas, today I decided that they were too dangerous to wear. On to the giant landfill (or wherever boots go).

Another wonderful ( #2) ZOOM meeting with Susanne von Dietze. Since Susanne cannot travel to us around the world ... she is providing us with a “Journey through the body”. This week, Susanne used props to help us explore all the ways breathing can help riders connect and influence our horses. She explained how we can improve turns, transitions, and stability with our breathing. Next week, she will go into how we can improve cadence. Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge with us Susanne!

Just wrapped up an amazing Zoom session with Susanne von Dietze. The topic was “breathing”. Some of what she said was a reminder of what she has taught in previous clinics, but ALOT was new with super ideas of how to apply when mounted on our horses. I definitely will watch again and practice the exercises Susanne had us do. Looking forward to next one! Thank you so much Susanne

A fun memory from 3 years ago with all the auditors from our annual Susanne von Dietze Clinic learning Gyrokinesis from Susanne. Another unfortunate byproduct of Covid19 is that we have had to cancel our clinic this year 😢 If Israel lifts its' lockdown ... and we are able to schedule a clinic for later this year 🤞

The USEF announced that they will be issuing points as of June 1st 🤸‍♂️
I was happy to read the following restrictions: “So here are a few tips as you think about returning to competition.

1. If you are uncomfortable and feel the risk is too high – Don’t show!
2. If you are a high-risk individual – Don’t show!
3. If you have any symptoms at all (flu, fever, allergy, cough, etc…) – Don’t show!
4. If you become aware that you have come in “unprotected” contact with someone who has tested positive – Don’t show for 14 days!
5. If you test positive, do not return to showing until your symptoms are gone for 14 days and you have been cleared by your health provider, and notify anyone you have been in contact with so they don’t show for 14 days!
6. If none of the above applies, go show, but strictly follow the protocols established by USEF, federal, state and county law, and other Competition Organizer requirements. For example, whenever you are on the grounds of a competition, you will need to wear a mask unless you are up on horseback. You will need to maintain social distancing. Additionally, you should continue to frequently wash your hands and use hand sanitizer.“

We are so pleased to welcome Alexandra Pain and her horse Isabella to North Star Training Center. I see many years of fun while while we progress through the levels together. Here are some things that you might be interested in knowing about Alexandra:
My husband Ed and I own a consulting firm helping companies make successful and strategic business relationships and advertising decisions. We also deal with data lead generation.
When I'm not helping clients, I am taking care of our four young boys: Adrian (8), Augustine (6), Atticus (2) and Anderson (2). They are all at such fun ages and it's a joy getting to watch their personalities come out as they find their own place in the world. They keep me busy and as much as I love this time with them I also treasure my "me" time with the only girl I could get (my mare)!

We moved to Chapel Hill late last summer from Colorado for a better quality of life. My husband has had to adjust to the slower pace of life but NC has quickly grown on us and we love being within driving distance to the beach! I grew up on the east coast and am so happy to be back and closer to family out here!

I grew up riding hunter/jumpers in the Arabian circuit through college and then took a 10+ year hiatus to focus on our family. I bough Isabella (Trakehner/Andalusian) last winter and we are having a blast learning dressage together. She is definitely a feisty mare but has a wonderful work ethic that makes riding a joy. Looking forward to continue our education at North Star Training Center and getting to know everyone!
